I don't think we need worry about Urs - I'm sure nothing said on here would keep him awake at night

Thats funny I guess you dont know who synthbuilder is that recently postedAdmirallo wrote:I don't defend him as much as I'm weary of the smartasses never for once having a synthesizer made, yet thinking they are safe to advise a real, professional synth programmer. Relax, guys, you're not in the position. Urs knew all this stuff when you were walking under the table. You're not to teach him anything.

It is up to Urs to use his time as he sees fit in the forum... and plenty of users have suggested changes and Urs said good idea and used it... Sometimes someone can get pushy about their idea(s) and that is not so cool, but user feedback is an overall good thingAdmirallo wrote:I don't defend him as much as I'm weary of the smartasses never for once having a synthesizer made, yet thinking they are safe to advise a real, professional synth programmer. And please don't lie, you do tell him how to make this synth each time you leave all these "I want this, I want that" comments. By doing this you're trying to have your influence on the outcome. But you forget that it is in fact Urs himself who is more than anyone else here or whatever interested in Repro-5 to come out the best possible way. Not you. And he knows how to do that better than any other person here. Now why don't you leave him be and do his job.

I think it goes beyond that a bit, but it's silly, IMO, to fixate on such differences when instead you could be exploiting the differences for what makes them cool. Like always, if the sound of a synth is crucial to your music, get that synth. No emulation that doesn't turn your CPU into a lump of slag is going to get you there perfectly.pdxindy wrote:One Pro-1 will have a particular character at one setting that another Pro-1 doesn't. The difference from one machine to another is not a quality difference but just difference. Because there is one setting on one Pro-1 at one moment in time that has a character you like, does not mean you can increase oversampling or otherwise use more cpu in RePro-1 and somehow get that sound. It is not possible for RePro-1 to represent all the lovely little sweet spots of every Pro-1 that exists.mooneh wrote:In this video
For example the sequence around 18:30. My wish/hope is if its possible to come closer to that wild unruly bass that you can hear at 19:12. The hardware sounds alive with more round bass and saturation . That little extra is one of my favourite thing with those old vintage machines. Even if it takes down the whole cpu a button to turn on extra quality would be great at 44.1khz.
Im not here to debate software vs hardware I just wish it could be done with pro-1 and prophet 5. I have just bought some nice midi controllers so would love to use some software but there still things that can be improved imo.
Inversely, there's currently a thread on GearSlutz where a guy is trying to emulate a Diva preset using a Pulse 2. My guess is he's SOOL.

Some months ago? Let me tell ya, this shit has not been fixed since 2007. That's right, 2007. This bug, along many others, was reported many times to them and instead of extending LFO range to 40, they've made a tooltip box read 20 instead of 40. Talk about lame.Told them some months ago (I perceived the difference when comparing with Roland Jupiter plugin). Got this response: "I transmit your remarks to the test team. Thanks for your feedback." BTW, it seems that a update to Arturia plugins is coming this month.
It's because you're not paying attention. None of you is qualified to teach Urs on synthesizers. I don't know if some synth makers are lurking around in this very thread, but none of you have anything on u-he quality and product catalog, that's for sure. So once again, relax and let Urs work in peace. I think we will all benefit from it.I only see one person who should relax, and who is not in the position.

Man can you finally get yourself decent CPU and stop spreading this?

i7 @ 3.4 ghz not fast enough, or do you really believe that the analog synth has been perfectly modeled? If you believe that, good for you. I think RePro-1 is fantastic, but I don't think it's perfect. I'm pretty sure Urs wouldn't claim it to be perfect. I think that whatever computational compromises had to be made to get it running at it's current needs was a very good call, as I'd much rather have all the other goodies that it has than a few extra hz in the frequency range.david.beholder wrote:That's wrong.zerocrossing wrote:No emulation that doesn't turn your CPU into a lump of slag is going to get you there perfectly.

And what is model of your i7?
Well enough to write such a magical analog sounding music:zerocrossing wrote:or do you really believe that the analog synth has been perfectly modeled?

The moment you have a Prophet 6 in your clutches and you modulate the filter cutoff and PWM with oscillator 2, you'll change your mind. RePro-1 gets it perfectly,or as perfect as you can expect considering it's not an emulation of the Prophet 6, or even 5 for that matter. But RePro-1 is as resource heavy as Diva is when it's only playing a single note. The quality of what I'm talking about takes CPU cycles.david.beholder wrote:zerocrossing wrote:i7 @ 3.4 ghz not fast enoughdavid.beholder wrote:That's wrong.zerocrossing wrote:No emulation that doesn't turn your CPU into a lump of slag is going to get you there perfectly.

First of all I've purchased P6 approx. half of the year earlier than you and played it allover. So, please, don't make assumptions.zerocrossing wrote: The moment you have a Prophet 6 in your clutches and you modulate the filter cutoff and PWM with oscillator 2, you'll change your mind. The case you've brought up was described by Urs during development of RePro-1 as one of the conner-case examples of modeling complications/benefits. It's really funny that it has become your "the analog modeling test".
Jupiter 8 doesn't have filterfm/pwmfm at all (btw, still considered great analog synth), Moog's filter FM is quite close to actual moog. Diva is not emulating P6, P5 or any other Prophet and it has never been intended to. P6, P5, P1 are related to each other somehow.
Are you saying Diva is not CPU hog anymore, really???zerocrossing wrote:But RePro-1 is as resource heavy as Diva is when it's only playing a single note. The quality of what I'm talking about takes CPU cycles.

Hello,
I'm looking forward to Repro-5. And thanks for the very very affordable upgrade from Repro-1.
I've been checking regularly for the release of the beta.
It would be more elegant though to get an alert e-mail from U-he.
Will people who bought Repro-1 get an e-mail from U-he when Repro-5 beta is released?

Yes, if you subscribed to our newsletter. Which you can still do if you didn't.Stefken wrote:Hello,

My feeling is that it won't be easy to miss the release, even the public beta one.
