What specific non-destructive feature are you looking for? Since Tracktion is already non-destructive, I imagine you have something else in mind, like Loop recording (which you also mentioned, so you must be thinking of 2 different things...?).
I strongly believe that loop recording will appear in T2. But that's just a hunch, I've never heard any confirmation anywhere.

Are you saying that non-destructive tracking *is* possible? I didn't know...
How do you do that, or is it automatic?
I'll be they add loop in v.2.
Thanks,
david

I'm just saying that our vision of "non-destructive" might not be the same.
Let's say I have my inputs on Track 4, and I'm recording guitar. I'm not happy with my take, so I go back to the beginning, with the input STILL on Track 4 and press "record". Your new take will NOT replace the old one, and in fact you will have a very annoying situation in which you hear your last track along with the new one, if I'm remembering correctly. To me, that's non-destructive.
If, however, you DON'T want to hear the original take, then yes, you have to switch it to destructive mode (grr).
To be honest with you, I hadn't reasoned out what you were referring to until halfway through my first post, but I'm imagining you want:
Re-record on the SAME track, but with the original take buried underneat for retrieval at a later date if you so choose. (ie. the way Cubase does)
If so, then no, Tracktion doesn't have it. I should have realized that's what you wanted from your previous post, since it's also something I want. If loop recording is implemented, this one will surely be implemented because it's the same technology except without the "loop" part.

Greeetings in ottawa and thanks for the reply.
Given how easy it is to work w/tracktion it's not that big a deal to just create a new track for a new take, but then things start looking cluttered.
I'm feeling confident they'll implement this and loop-recording just because they're so *essential*.

Greets to Frisco! One of my closest friends is from Sacramento, but that's about my only tenuous connection to the states. My only true friend that's American, too! Not by choice, just that... well... I'm Canadian so I don't know any Americans for any length of time.
It may be easy enough to switch tracks, but I hear you about the clutter. WAY too much clutter. When it comes time to optimize a track, I want to be able to go through ALL the takes to see which bits and pieces I want, make a master clip, and maybe keep one or two "outtakes" for possible future use. But when I've recorded 20 different takes of the same couple of measures, most of them trash, I'd rather just be able to cycle through them one last time and shitcan everything else, without having to make 20 separate tracks. I shift-drag stuff into empty tracks that I call "storage", but it's a VERY cumbersome workaround once you get beyond 2 or 3 takes.
I'm sure we'll see it in T2... whenever that comes out...

I wonder if there would be any attrocities? (A copy of Traktion cutting off the ear of of Live?) Or if a copy of Logic would return to speak about it to the press? I wonder if a copy of Sonar might get a bronze star or something for chasing down and killing a copy of Cubase SE? It could be quite bloody

Episode III - Revenge of the Sonar
Episode IV - A Nuendo Hope
Episode V - The energyXT Strkes Back

Well, it looks like Sonar 4 has been announced. Not officially announced by CW yet, and not many really specific details in that article (though it does say surround and better AV capabilities, among other things), but it can't be long now.
