I also very much like that Salvatore Sobral won by singing in porgugeese. While most other contries sing in English nowdays.

He must be treated as a national super hero in Porgutla today ! :tu:

I'm excited to see what show they'll put up next year. Hopefully something different :-)
I think only Irish and British entries should be allowed in English, everyone should have to sing in their mother tongue.

I didn't watch it, as usual, but I was surprised to hear Salvador won. He does have an interesting voice, though, almost a woman's voice at times, I have heard him sing nicer songs on the national level, Jazz stuff.
His movements are odd, almost a bit like Joe Cocker :hihi:
Hm, what about Australia...some nice yodeling? :-D

Post

Why is Australia even in the European song contest?! 8)

Oh, just read that Luisa Sobral is his sister, she has been known here for years. That might explain why he tends towards Jazz stuff, she also does Jazz.

I didn't sing, I am not even Portuguese, I am just an immigrant :) But I am happy for the Portuguese, they have had tough years...

Yeah, no Eurovision winner since '64

Well, it is in the news everywhere, as expected. Yesterday the Pope was here, so I am happy there is a new topic on the news now :hihi: He has to share the attention with the soccer club Benfica, though, which won the championship yesterday. Soccer is huge here...

That's not what I meant, people don't really care about that contest - unless a Portuguese person wins :hihi:
I meant economic hardship, unemployment, politicians from Central and Northern Europe basically telling them they suck, etc.

Portugal had a lovely song a few years ago. A woman playing an accordion. Very sweet song.

So the same as any other European country then. EuroVision only matters when your own country is winning :hihi:

Just another day in the EU then

In Norway we are very used to:

La Norvege: zero points :scared:

Jahn Teigen - Mil etter Mil
Finn Kalvik - Aldri i livet

They never won the contest before. Italy won in 1964. And exactly 9 months later I was born. Not that it's significant lol
