Urs, to which extent are you going to make Zebra 3 compatible with Zebra 2 presets. I'm curious, because high compatibility means no major changes to the synth's modules, effects, engine, stereo unison and so on. Which is not that good, in my opinion.

Was answered before. Z3 will not be a Z2 replacement, so patch compatibility is not a priority at all. The idea is to take the modules to a whole new level.

Using Ableton Live 9.7.2 + Windows 10.
In Session View open 2 MIDI Tracks.
Open Zebra in each MIDI Track.
In the Track 1 Zebra instance Save Preset in folder XXX. Name the preset '001'.
In the Track 2 Zebra instance change any parameter then Save Preset in folder XXX. Name the preset '002'.
Go back to the Track 1 Zebra instance and Save Preset again in folder XXX. Name it '002'.
It overwrites preset 002 without an 'Overwrite' ? prompt.
As long as you do not refresh folders you can overwrite any preset that is not showing, without an 'overwrite' prompt appearing.
I think this is in all vst's. Has anyone else found this?

If this thread wasn't the best place for ^this, I'm struggling to find another one. Anyone care to redirect me? =/ Seriously not trying to troll anyone.vvilms wrote:Also, this might be a bit off topic, but I'm just wondering: I've had Zebra for quite sometime now, but I still find it difficult to achieve things that I can with ease in Thor. I feel like Zebra's a more capable synth that affords the opportunity for much more finesse, but things still elude me as it's a bit less conventional than the environments I was taught in.
Things like choosing a simple triangle to impart texture to via AMing it with a multi-osc module (set to a rounded square wave) using a detune preset that simultaneously ascends and descends to the octave. Where you'd then set a mod envelope to control the detune amount, and loop it. (abbreviated, but ^this is the core concept)
Video of the result:
EDIT: In an effort to bring this back to the topic at hand, if ^the above isn't easily implemented in Zebra due to a lack of an AM module (I know Urs has eluded to using a mix of RM with the dry signal of the intended "carrier" at a ratio of 1:2, but I'm not sure I've succeeded in my attempts.) and/ or different detune types, etc. Might there be hope to be able to reach ^this result with greater ease in the future.

Why not post your patch? Loading a preset in Zebra makes it much easier to understand & examine your problem than describing it in words. Don't you think?

The thing is I'd be posting a Thor patch, since I don't really know how to do the same thing in Zebra.spunkmuffin wrote:Why not post your patch? Loading a preset in Zebra makes it much easier to understand & examine your problem than describing it in words. Don't you think?

I did see that thread*, but I wasn't sure how much attention it would garner considering how long inactive it's been, whereas people are much more active here.
It's also my opinion that it's still a bit tied to development/ on topic since I'm asking if it would be possible to implement functionality that would make it possible if it isn't already.
The video is of the Thor patch I'd like to be able to recreate. ()
* It's actually the thread I was referring to when I said:

That sound sounds similar to sounds from patches in the Bells + Metallurgy section of The Dark Zebra. So buy it and analise those patches.

Buy The Dark Zebra just to get to know how to setup parameters for his particular need?spunkmuffin wrote:That sound sounds similar to sounds from patches in the Bells + Metallurgy section of The Dark Zebra. So buy it and analise those patches.

I actually did the dinosaur crossgrade and Dark Zebra combo back in October, so. Idk. I've gone through them all over the months, and I feel like what I'm asking isn't covered. There are some similar results being achieved as stated earlier, but. hmm.

I have Reason and Dark Zebra. If you post your Thor patch, I'll see if I can match it. I've been looking for an excuse to dig into Zebra again, so this might be fun.vvilms wrote:I actually did the dinosaur crossgrade and Dark Zebra combo back in October, so. Idk.
