While waiting for the next step of Kaleidoscope (hopefully this year) i made a dark track in a dark mood i had today (well, i´m a natural melancholic anyway).
I made a short piano and violin track, slowed it extremly down, reversed it and than played it trough Kaleidoscope and a B2. The track i made for this main background soundscape also was heavy processed with B2 and Kaleidoscope even before mangling.
Also all other sounds (beside one) are processed with 2CAudio stuff. Oh i love the dark side of the 2CAudio stuff :D

nice track!

Yes should be this year. We took a small detour to give some love to our verbs as well, but it's all simmering in the pot nicely and we hope to serve something up soonish...

meanwhile check out these bad boys:

http://wccftech.com/intel-core-x-series ... -i5-7640x/

if ever there were CPUs that begged to be used for KS/B2/Aether (that was not a Xeon) these seem to be it, particularly this one:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ ... 980xe.html

no full details yet, but it definitely caught my interest...

I guess some competition from AMD is a good thing for all of us, as expected! :tu:

In other new, we/I did an interview with the great guys over at Noizefield last week if anyone is interested:

Great interview......and i agree with most if it.
I have so many FX tools but 2CAudio is something special for me.
Can't wait for the future!

Whoa nellie. Finally got Kaleidoscope. Mindblowing... it's way better than I thought even after spending a year with the demo. I got the bundle. I also just picked up Stockhausen's subscription as well and am looking forward to digging into that.

Question: How do I integrate the Galbanum Waveform 2010 library? I coptied the folder of folders in the resource library Waveforms folder. In Kaleidoscope I can access the folder and the 2nd level folders but the browser doesn't show the waveforms within the folders.

I bet the maxed out will be 10-15K or so :o
I wait some years until i can play something like Kaleidoscope on an iPad Pro whatever and can paint things in realtime. :D
I really do wish i could touch Kaleidoscope more, it´s a bit "static" to play with.
But wait.....do we need an 18core cpu for the next update.....whatever groundbreaking it might get, i hope it won´t put the cpu usage in new realms.

Awesome track, thanks for sharing. Particularly love the bass line sound.

Thanks Plexuss! Glad you are enjoying it.

Ya Simon is a wizard! But we all know that around here already. What an incredible sound-designer! And a great human being as well! :tu:

You should just copy the directory into

C:\2CAudio Resource Library\Waveform Library

so the full path to an actual folder that contains some wavs would be something like:

C:\2CAudio Resource Library\Waveform Library\Architecture Waveforms 2010\Add - BinAdd Arth

is this what you have?

I doubt it. I think $8k or so max for the iMacPro. The CPU (assuming i9, or assuming the single socket xeon equivalent) cost $2000 itself, so the iMac Pro fully maxed out should not be more than 7-8K if I am guessing, and really it could be less. But it is still a steep price compared to what people are used for to iMac's yes...

I think the next Mac Pro might reach the $15-20K range if/when completely maxed out (assuming some form factor that goes back to the historical norm of using the latest Xeon E5/EP/SP in a dual socket configuration together with the PCIE slots to allow multiple latest gen pro GPUs.) It should be possible to build at least a 2*28 = 56 core Mac Pro if that happens, and that ain't gonna be cheap. People like to claim apple is overpriced, but I have had max config Mac Pros for the past 20 years or so, and I have also built dual xeon server/workstations on the win side, and in my experience at least in terms of the Mac Pro it was hard to build a custom win workstation using the same parts for a similar price. The savings of doing it all myself was almost zero. The components, which are all commodity from Intel/AMD/Nvidia, simply are VERY expensive for these high end parts. It's not really Apple's fault the system becomes that expensive. We can better blame Intel, or perhaps blame AMD for not being competitive for years and allowing Intel to act like a monopoly. But that has changed now some in the past 6 months, and this 18-core i9 seems a direct panic response from Intel to address what it sees as the first legitimate competition from AMD in a decade or more. So at least things are competitive once again. That should help keep prices somewhat out of the "extortion" level that intel had been enjoying recently. But I think this 28-core Sklake Xeon SP is supposed to be something like $4k by itself... two of them and you are already at $8k just for the CPUs... but you are talking about an insane amount of compute power... anyway this is all speculative -- lets see what comes to market.

Real-time paint would be fun! Maybe someday.

At the moment the results are definably NOT static, as you have over 1 million points of modulation in a single preset making sure everything is VERY dynamic... but it's sort of a "set up the conditions and let KS do it's magic" at the moment, I understand -- I think that is what you mean. Some more interactivity like performance stuff and realtime user input, is definitely of interest to us.

Cinebient wrote:But wait.....do we need an 18core cpu for the next update.....whatever groundbreaking it might get, i hope it won´t put the cpu usage in new realms.

well whatever we do, you will at the minimum be able to run the current feature set at the current level of performance or better which is already pretty incredibly fast as of the 1.1 update last summer. Remember that update made things ~3 times faster than than the 1.0 version!! Which is pretty crazy...

But ya, we try to be conscious of CPU usage even now that all of us will have supercomputers in the next six months. :D

In my opinion the best bang for the buck is an upgraded earlier mac pro in the cheese grater tower. i bought a 2009 upgraded with 3Ghz 12 core for $1500 last year. granted is "only" core. sure, if you need/have to ha e the latest machine its going to cost you those 5 digit prices. but for practical music work there are much cheaper options. i never/rarely buy new macs because even a 1 year old current model can be found significantly cheaper than from apple, and in some cases are still new ITB. but then again you dont get bragging rights that you shelled out for a $15,000 computer (which to my mind is opposite thing someone should be bragging about).

oh, i don't think one should brag about that either. I'm just estimating what I think a hypothetical new mac pro might cost. This would make it roughly twice as much as any historical top end mac pro which I might have owned...

I am however one of those people who thinks that the computer is more or less the centerpiece of the modern studio. If you go over to GS and check out guys bragging about their 15K near fields, and 20K in Mics, and 30K in vintage analog gear, and 40k in modular synths etc, I tend to believe a $15k computer might actually be a better investment in terms of usable benefit and enhancement to productivity.... And top PT systems have cost more than this for quite some time now, so these kind of numbers are not unheard of... some crazy people out there spend $20K on an AppleWatch for pete's sake... that I don't get...

but definitely true that talented creative people will make do with whatever they have and find a way to make something really cool no matter what. After all we all made decent music 10-15-20 years ago with much less compute power, right? So I do agree to some extent. Crap, the Beatles et all, even made music without any computer. Heretics! :D

I just find the latest extreme HPC news interesting to talk about... consider it a side hobby. :D
