Ugh who f**king cares ? Magnus' name has only been brought into this by Enochlight to bolster his flimsy assertions and present himself as the keeper of all wisdom. Which in most cases never stand up to scrutiny - lucky for him most people don't even bother. The only FACT (a word that gets thrown around a little too liberally) is that he has ZERO inside knowledge or information, and weaves elaborate false citations that are then delivered with such assurances. Bravo to Rappo for calling out this manipulative horseshit.Tronam wrote:I think the point Enochlight was trying to get across is that Magnus isn't just a plug-in developer; He's also a well respected architecture guy with a deep understanding of the VST (and AU) specification who creates helpful tools for other developers. Considering his close involvement with the Propellerheads since the early days, there's nothing farfetched about his tweet and it would be pointless to lie about. Good luck on the quest for 2007 proof though. That kind of cynical rhetoric is the stuff that forums are made of.Rappo Clappo wrote:@EnochLight
Again. What has Symbiosis to do with VST support in Reason?
Simple question.

Thank you xbitz and eXode. I was hoping it would work just like other Reason effects and it sounds like it does.eXode wrote:Can't you just right click the VST rack device and select "Create track for ...." and then create a note lane for that track?xbitz wrote:yepp, simply should enable the "Receive Notes" in the programmer

No need for a Combinator.

Ironically I was going through all the VST plugins I added over the weekend and noticed that SonicCharge Echobode was the only one I had bought twice, as plugin first then as RE, and thinking that I probably wouldn't have done now. I do wonder how badly they have hurt their RE market? Certainly I can see myself holding back, a month ago I would have jumped on the Spire RE for example. I am sure I am not alone in this, even if RE still does have certain advantages (better integration in the Reason ecosystem) it also has a number of disadvantages (transferability, architectural restrictions).Tronam wrote:I think the point Enochlight was trying to get across is that Magnus isn't just a plug-in developer; He's also a well respected architecture guy with a deep understanding of the VST (and AU) specification who creates helpful tools for other developers. I agree that it's plausible that they explored the option back in 2007 even if they chose at that point not to go with it and go with RE instead. I see no reason why Magnus would make this up.

Don't bother. While SOMEONE makes it his mission to pollute forums with telling everyone how indispensable it it, the Spire is in Beta. Is there a term before Beta ? Because thats really where it is. It's really shameful how blatantly SOMEONE promotes a product so heavily when its so clearly a piece of crap. He's not even trying very hard to play down his affiliation on this one, it's so goddamn obvious he's on the take.

As I said I'm not going to now because I have the plugin anyway. As I recall it took ages for the plugin to iron out the rough edges too.

Yes. It still creates a default ID8 device, though. But at least you have the MIDI data, so... there's that. Lolincubus wrote:So, midi drag/drop is a thing now?

People gonna be disappointed on the performance. Performance is poor and 9.5 is not ready for public, imho. Someone actually started topic about this in beta forums, but yeah. Performance is poor. About like this, Reason 9.5 can handle ~20 spires while S1 will handle over 40. Prop's should delay the release...

1. I'm guessing it's not something that can be fixed overnight.keel wrote:People gonna be disappointed on the performance. Performance is poor and 9.5 is not ready for public, imho. 2. It's still ~20 more spires than Reason 9.2

Actually VST has elevated Reason by longer margin. The performance has improved comparing to Re but comparing to other DAWs the performance is not good. It needs rewrite. The workflow is not that good except for starting up your beats. All of the VST stacked together they look like rectangle which are made in Microsoft office collected together. That by itself put me off to use Reason in the future. The container no where to change its color. man too much to mention but 3 days later you all know about it is all about but me I'm 50-50. It is bad and good. when they add VST the workflow become visible. It is like driving a car while sitting on saddle.keel wrote:People gonna be disappointed on the performance. You are wrong i think. Historically Reason betas have poor performance (i recall it i had Reason from version 1 to version 7) because they are (what a surprise) betas and they have all sort of logging tools in the background. Beta is made for betatesting. Not for benchmark.keel wrote:People gonna be disappointed on the performance. Performance is poor and 9.5 is not ready for public, imho. Final product - you can expect at least 40% better performance. Mark my words, download final product when 9.5 is released and compare it then.

You are wrong. What I and others have tested is RC 3 and it is told to be the final what they gonna release in Monday, if there is not some huge bugs - and there is not. So it gonna be that then.kmonkey wrote:You are wrong i think. You are talking about the logging version. That is slow, and so was the the logging versio of this 9.5 beta. Oh boys, that was slow. But like I said, we have played RC 3, which is NOT a logging version, couple days now and the performance is poor. It really is.
