If we are talking about synths which are kind of different in approach guys, I just got Reason's Parsec and I think it's fantastic, especially in scope of sounds you can get out of it and it's architecture. Though I do think some of its elements were around in Virsyn's Tera, a much lamented left behind softsynth, like the company itself.

Virsyn still lives.....but they seems to focus on iOS these days.

Yes, I know they are still around Cinebient, but they just would not address a few major issues with the GUI of Tera and it was incredibly unstable because of that, so I've been saddled with over a $600 investment with a synth I was forced to give up using. They should have dumped the whole idea of receiving on up to 16 channels and focused on having like everyone else, one instance, one sound and just open up more of them if you needed them.Too bad, because Tera was/is an incredibly well designed and very diverse synth engine as well as sounding fantastic with its filters.

TBH I soon learned to dislike Tera's basic sound. I never managed to get a smooth sound out of it.

When I first purchased Zebra, it was Zebra and Tera I was choosing between. I compared the demos of both for a while and Zebra was the clear choice for me. I appreciated the full stereo signal path in Zebra whereas Tera was a mono signal path. I also found the Tera GUI quite confusing and I liked the basic sound character of Zebra better.

Ironically, even though one of the ones you did make for it is called 'butter'.

Hmmm, I put together lots of great sounding patches in Tera, though Zebra is now one of my full time go to synths and has been for a couple of years, at least. I have Cube too, but it just seemed to be quite limited in sonic terms.

Can someone say approximately when Repro-5 will be released? Sorry, I haven't read all the pages of this thread yet.

The sound engine is done, they're implementing a new preset browser this week, so the first alpha could be next week, could be later. Depends on how things go with the preset browser I suppose. We're expecting a public Alpha/Beta phase ahead of the final release, which will probably run a few weeks.

Preset Browser is awesome, but needs a lot of design decisions and a bit of bug fixing. Might be two or three weeks until we're happy to roll this out to internal testers.

I find the 'Preset Browser' in curren u-he synths to be very good and to the point. Let's you do exactly what it's meant to. The pop-up dialog boxes appears (on Linux) behind Bitwig, so Bitwig needs to be unmaximized to see the box, and that's a bug with a workaround. What other features are there to be implemented that would require so much work ? Just curious.

It's been discussed already: filtering by tags, searching presets by text, showing favorites in their own folders, etc. It sounds easy but it can be tricky to implement.

Yep, it adds search functionality, folders for favorites, favourites in multiple colours, "zooming into the folder structure", folders for authors, folders for searches. The search can be based on tags selections, authors, prestet name/description within the scope of the currently zoomed in folder, or a search can be based on the tags of the currently selected preset, and so on.

All of this without abandoning the current functionality, look and feel of the browser.
