Just ran test three time on my pc and three times on my macbook pro. Every time I get silence with both biotek and collective by doing this;

I'll use biotek now as example, cause this I also recorded on video.

Start new project

Add midi track on track 1
Generate chord pattern
Use pattern preset house 1

Copy midi track to tracks 2 and 3

Add biotek on track 1 with preset Algorithmic Spring

Add biotek on track 2 with preset Antarctic Life

Add biotek on track 3 with preset Bamboo Forest

All bioteks multiple cores and open gl on.

Start playing tracks on loop and click on cpu load meter on top right cormer.

Every time track three stops outputting any sound and won't start again even if playback is stopped, other tracks deleted, Panic! Pressed (Reset audio engine). Playing keys on synth won't give any sound out from synth.

After loading up different preset on frozen biotek. Sometimes it starts outputting sound again and sometimes won't.

I took video from start to finish also if you need it. Hope this helps.

Waveform demo downloaded yesterday, so newest version with newest synths/plugins

Computer 1:
Macbook Pro Mid2010 i5 8gb 250gt SSD
OS X Sierra and all updates installed. Fresh Sierra install made few moths ago.

Computer 2:
Asus Asrog g20something gen 4? i5 8gb 250gt SSD, 1Tb hd
Windows 10 clean install made some time last year and all updates installed.

You can see my systems and problems on my 1st post on my 1st thread:

Hi everyone,

We need your help:

We are aware of the problem that Collective can go silent after a couple of minutes playing. However, we are unable to reproduce this behaviour on our test machines, even with test songs that we got from our customers producing silence on their computers. This problem must be solved but since we don't know where to start our search, we need your help:

Use a song that exposes the behaviour on your machine and isolate the track with Collective where it happens. Mute (or better delete) all other tracks and see if the problem persists. Save it under a new name so that you can go back to it or reload it after the problem occurred and you must get back sound from Collective.

Then, open the Collective plug-in view and try to remove as many sound layers as possible except for one, so that you have a simple setup to test with. Verify that the problem persists. Save it under a new name again.

Now, in this one Sound layer, deactivate all sound-generating modules except for Oscillator 1. This includes the Filters, Drive, Equalizer, and all 4 Effect slots (remember what was active in the original sound, i.e. if it had only one Effect slot activated, it makes no sense to check the others). Check if the problem happens. If yes, hooray, the bad guy is the oscillator and it's this particular oscillator type (Sine, Sample, you name it). If not, activate one of the Filters and see if Collective goes silent now. If not, activate Drive and so on. When you have found the culprit, please report it to us, ideally with the respective song data or at least with the instrument file saved from Collective.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best wishes,

Wolfram
Found two exact effects causing Collective to freeze. After disabling these effects, collective starts working normally. Effects can be enabled again and keep working.

On preset Ballad Piano EM -> effect 4 Reverb Natur...

On preset 5th Track WMF -> effect 3 Delay

I have video from the whole process which gives more info. How can I share it with you?

Edit: newermind... uploaded to my Youtube channel. Please check it out and don't mind background voices +wobbly camera. You see that on other preset, reducing mix brought voice back and disabling these effects, mentioned before, brought whole sound back to life.

Maby the bug is on some delay/echo coding?

One more freeze solved. This time it was effect Chorus.

@silweri when you use 32 bit version of collective and waveform, do you get problems too ?. on my system 32 bit work ok(no silence) and use much less RAM. is this same on your system ?. maybe your full CPU load happen because 8 GB ram are too few and swapfile is used. I have 12 GB RAM
i notice too 1 time after i disable the chorus that sound come again. but another trys disable chorus do not help. really strange that they have no system that see the problems too.
is here anybody that have it working ?. and what system he have. i think they should create a collective version with logfile output such as note num 64 instance 2 recieve. osc 1 instance 2 start play note 64. if this not see, then know that problem is in between. sure it cost time, but do nothing fix not the problem.

wy does collective in 64 bit use so much RAM and in 32bit not, thats also strange

This is what happened on Macbook Pro

Tried to open Waveform 32bit and whole collective didn't work anymore. There was yellow triangle displayed on tracks it was previously assigned on and saying something like "There's problem with plugin...".

Collective didn't show up on any VST/SYNTH/WAVEFORM PLUGINS and could not be added on tracks.

After re-updating plug-ins(Scan for new or updated VST plugins), the collective was again displaying on the plugin list, but not on the lists while trying to add plugin to track.

After reboot, the Collective was again showing up at VST plugins and was able to be added on tracks, but I could not get any sound out of it.

After starting up the 64bit version of Waveform, everything started working again.

Maby I don't have the 32bit version installed? I just downloaded the whole bundle install for Mac os and installed with stock settings. There was both Waveform 32 and 64bit installed automaticly.

This is what happened on PC

Tried 32bit version of Waveform on PC.

Working flawless so far.
No silence on Collective or biotek, CPU usage dropped to ~25% where the 64bit version is over 90%.

One other problem went away too!
I've had the problem with Waveform, that if I plug in, or plug out headphones, I lose all sounds. Panic!(Reset the audio engine) has not been able to bring the sounds back, only blue button on Settings -> Setup Audio Device "Reset Audio Settings" has been able to get sounds back on, or restarting of Waveform.

On 32bit version of Waveform on PC, sounds keep playing without any problems when plugging in/out the headphones.

Just curious, but you never mentioned what audio interface you are using?
Windows 10 and too many plugins

None.

There's Core audio on Mac OS stock I guess, but on PC I only have stock Windows 10 installed with default drivers.

Nothing external devices installed/connected other than mouse on Macbook Pro (wireless apple mouse from 2010) and display, mouse(asus usb mouse) and keyboard(asus usb keyboard) on desktop PC

Stable reproducibly, just with one track with one clip.

Ubuntu 16.04.02 / 4.8.0
Driver: ALSA/Jack, since also rendered with silence on Freeze, I do not thing that is driver dependent
Waveform 8.2.1b30, 64bit
Collective 1.0.4

New started Waveform, new Edit, one Track, one Collective, "Jazz Kit WMF" preset, "Step clip: Simple Rock" as the only clip.

Start playing with looping, opened Callective interface, switched to edit - already "skips" (either silence or some layers produce some notes, the "keyboard" showing the signal all the time).

In Effects: switched OFF "Reverb plate" for ALL peaces where it is in - NO SKIPS
For "Snares C#1 -E1", switching Effect 4 "Reverb plate" ON - skips/silent, OFF - ok.

Changing the effect and then even back to "Reverb plate" SOMETIMES get things fixed. But turning ON/OFF/ON/OFF does not.

Hi !

I've read with a lot of attention your problems with the Collective plugin, because here, on my machine (MacBook Pro / sierra) I've never had any of your mentioned problems.

I've also seen with attention your related KVR video.
On this video, the related Collective plugin seems to be an unregistered or demo plugin (red rectangle in the up right of the Collective GUI).
Will this be a possibility to cause the "stop output problem" of Collective ?
Other users with the registered version have the same problems ?
--> this specific version should be one of the possible explanations of why the TSC team aren't able to reproduce the problem on their machines ?

Just an idea... an observation...
Good luck guys !

My 2 cents,
Cheers.

can you tell what mac CPU Type and RAM size you have, if you use 32bit or 64 bit waveform and collective version ?. maybe with the type of RAM size and CPu type can see with what cpu or Ram size it fail. I have i5 760 with 12 GB RAM. the fail have nothing to do with audio card, because i start windows in security mode where it load only most important drivers and no autostart programs. normaly a audio program fail because no hardware. but it is possible to use asio for all and the direct x low latency asio driver. there come no soundoutput but waveform is happy and play. that sound is stop can see in levelmeter of the collective tracks. my testsong fail in this security mode, as soon as in normal mode, so i am sure, there is no bad autostart program or sounddriver that let collective fail
if you please can test this song i mail to waveform support is nice too. when restart waveform 3* , start 3* the song and if it play 30 sec correct then your system really works. https://tracktion.zendesk.com/attachmen ... stsong.zip

Yep.

32bit version of Waveform +plugins still running without any crashes/silence.

64bit getting silence in less than minute playback every time. But! The CPU load somehow just reduced to same level as 32bit version. No changes done to plugin presets or tracks.

I noticed something weird about cpu usage...
The meter on Waveform is displaying almost triple the amount of real cpu usage.

Waveform 64bit uses 25% more memory that 32bit
Waveform 64bit uses 25% less real cpu usage than 32bit, but displays a lot more. It was displaying over 90% all the time on the very same tracks that now shows 26%. This seems to have changed now after I played with 32bit version a bit..?

My PC:
Windows 10 home version 1511 64bit
i5 4460 3,2ghz
8gt ram

Here are the photos. You can see 32bit text on that version photo.

On my Macbook Pro, the CPU load seems to display real cpu usage, but on processes, the waveform displays almost 300% load?

CPU load is so huge that sound is stuttering.

Two collectives, one melody, one simple chords and one bassstation vst plugin.
Three audio tracks containing apple loops of different drum parts.

My Macbook Pro:
Sierra 10.12.5
Mid2010
MacBookPro6,2
Intel Core i5 2,4ghz (1st gen I think)
8gt ram
