Hi there,
someone using a controller or app for melda plugins? Or do you prefer the mouse?
What do you think about a Nektar Panorama P1? Someone using it?
Thanks and greets

I think working with a mouse is faster, maybe only at the beginning of using a controller, but the big advantage of a controller is using your ears and not your eyes, cause you're looking at values of frequencies, q factor and gain.
I already try to simulate this by disabling the lovely frequency analyzer and spectrogram.
What do you think?! And which controller are you using?
At the moment I own a single Faderport by Presonus, great for volume adjustments.
I would like to see an app for tablets, which is special configured for meldaproduction plugins with all the active presets and multiparameters and so on? VOJTECH?????

I just think Melda plugins are not well designed for use with controllers. The easy screen would be the logical one to map but since layout changes with every preset in some plugins you pretty much have to map it again and again. So in practice I just map the multiparams.

Yes mine too but this isn't about titles but layout of knobs which varies a lot. If they all followed some sort of consistent 'grid' of numbering then it wouldn't matter, I could create one mapping that would just adapt to any layoutjmg8 wrote:But some controllers like mine can auto map themselves, updating the title of each knob as you change through the active presets.

I'm using Reaper which isn't that recognized by manufacturers. Users build configs which doesn't always work.

Or just get a touch screen

Because like most controllers I only have 8 knobs to play with so don't want to keep having wasted knobs that do nothing or having to change mappings. eg here I have the ERs mappedjmg8 wrote:Maybe I'm missing something here. Why do you need to have the same layout across presets?

but if I change to another preset the ER settings change and I lose one, that's not too bad

but if I switch to another preset the whole mapped page is useless

In some plugins the dev has thought about this and made it so each macro param has a number (macro1, macro 2 etc) and that they all have the same order in terms of being exposed to the host so even if macro 2 has a different function in a different preset to the host/controller it is still the same param but just with a new name. So you can map all 8 macros to a controller and know each knob will have a useful function even if those functions change between presets.

What do you mean by "move between banks"? Do you mean you create additional mapped pages for the ones that only appear in certain presets? - I did consider that, it's extra work and makes for a more complex and less ergonomic mapping but it's probably the only way at the momentjmg8 wrote:Ok, thanks, i understand now. It doesn't bother me too much as i just move between the banks to access the other controls.

My controller has 8 rotaries with screen under showing the name of the parameter (this is auto detected). The controller auto maps the first 128 parameters across 16 banks of 8 knobs. Then i can use the previous and next banks buttons on the controller to skip through.

Thanks - yes that's what I thought. I can set up templates with many pages (prefer to create this manually than automap stuff), just less ideal to have some of those pages non functional or with knobs not being used.
What controller are you using incidentally?
