Hello,

I will be upgrading mobo/cpu/ram in a couple of days.

Should I deactivate Waveform first? If so, how is that done?

Thanks!

As far as I'm aware no need to deactivate.
You will just be asked to sign in,When you first fire up waveform / Tracktion again. So aslong as your registered with TSC all should be good.

If you have multiple machines, you might want to deactivate both Waveform and Melodyne. Both allow multiple machines, but Melodyne in particular supposedly will not allow you to "reuse" licenses that you may have inadvertently lost (due to disk crash or upgrade) - at least not without going through their respective support procedures.

Melodyne allows two "active" activations per Essentials license. Just sign into your Celemony account and select the computer name you wish to de-activate. That will free up one so that you can re-activate on another computer.
Windows 10 and too many plugins
