Soon, soon...

(seems like the integration of the new preset browser has come very far in short time... we got a few more issues, but we think we're almost crash free, hence almost ready for a beta stage)
I think the updated preset browser will actually be a great idea looking ahead! think about the thousands and thousands of Zebra2 patches that have been made. Now think of how many more will be made when Zebra3 comes out. If you're able to port Zebra2 patches into Z3 (I don't know if it will be possible, but here's hoping!), the number is even higher :O.

It'll be pretty convenient to have in the long-term run haha

Already said that won't happen.
There will be two concurrent products Z2 and Z3.

Ahhh, darn. Actually I think you're right, I do remember that being said a very long time ago. Oh well! I have no doubt Z2 will live on and continue to be looked after even after Z3 is released :).

That reminds me. I've been meaning to report a bug in HZ, where sometimes when you change the wavetable, you lose your mod assessment.

Change wavetable = load oscillator preset = might affect all oscillator parameters

What exactly do you mean with 'when you change the wavetable'?
Do you mean using the Wavewarp parameter to scroll through the 16 wavetable slots of the oscillator?
Or do you mean choosing a different oscillator module preset?

If you choose a different oscillator module preset, it's normal that it looses the modulation assignments of the oscillator module, because it saves all the parameters (including the chosen modulation and modulation depths) inside an osc module preset.
But there is a trick to avoid this (involves some work though): If you open the osc module preset h2p file in a text editor, you can look for the parameters you don't want (e.g. the modulation assignments and modulation depths), delete those lines and save the h2p file. Next time you load that module preset, it won't recall those parameters anymore.

Edit: Ah, Urs was faster than me.

Then you didn't understand correctly.
But you'll see. ;)
I guess what that might mean is that both repro-1 upgrade and beta price for repro1+ 5 will total around 120 bucks instead of 150 bucks when offically launched?
So upgrade around 20 bucks as currently repro-1 is 100 bucks. Repro1+5 : 120 bucks when in beta.

Ah, OK. That makes sense... but odd behavior, eh? I only just noticed this because normally I was just using the wavetable editor to draw out my own waves, but I saw some people had uploaded some cool wavetables, so I figured I'd try them. What led me to think it might be a bug was that some seem to hold parameters, others not. But I see now, the ones that are giving me trouble are the ones that have those parameters baked into the preset. Nice to know I can delete them in a text editor. Thanks.

At a pinch, the words "complete oscillator templates" in the user guide COULD be misconstrued to mean only "complete wavetables". But TBH I think it's clear enough.

Anyway... a bit off topic - back to Repro-5!

Not sure about that. Urs has made it pretty clear that previous owners of (1) will get a better deal than those buying the new package, from scratch.

I'd be curious to know whether the special price for previous owners will be a time-limited affair i.e during beta only, or whether we would be able to upgrade for the same price at a later date.

It's al conjecture anyways. But Urs' statement would still be correct I guess when you look at the release version and the upgrade price would continue after the beta phase. In my example repro1+5 official release would be 150 dollars whereas repro-1 + upgrade to repro-5 would total to 120 dollars.
Anyways, I guess the upgrade price will be in that ballpark.

Hi Howard, sounds like the browser is coming along, what's the likelihood of the public beta next week?

Post

This week? I would be very surprised, as it's quite a major ongoing "operation".
But what do I know, not being in Berlin!

Zero.

It has to go through our own hands first, as well as the hands of our internal beta team. All of which would take 1-2 weeks, best case scenario, given that we don't find any flaws worth correcting or bugs worth fixing.

First of all we need to finish it, and it's not done yet. Don't ask me when... "soon". :)
Cheers
