MDelayMB - v11 new parameter per band DRY should default to "silence" ?

With v11, there appears to be a new parameter: per band DRY. To maintain backwards compatibility with pre v11 presets, it seems it should default to "silence"? Currently it defaults to 0db.
Thanks for checking it out.

v11 pic and a v9 pic I found on the net.

To me, it appears the issue is that with per band dry not at silence, presets that are setup as send effects with global dry at 0 will have dry signal coming through.
Also, the per band dry adds to the global dry level, boosting the dry level.
It seems that all previous presets do not take this into account. I noticed this first with my own presets not sounding correct. It's possible I have not used the plugin during its v10 phase.

I think that it should default to 'silence' We still have the global 'Wet' and 'Dry' controls, above the meters, to control the overall levels. My reasoning for the default of 'silence' is based on this experiment, showing the results in MMultiAnalyzer:
>>> http://i.imgur.com/cRhlsZF.png
-- the grey graphs is that of the original audio (a single drum hit),
-- the green graph is that after MDelayMB, with the band level set to 'silence',
-- the cyan graph is that after MDelayMB, with the band level set to '0 dB',
-- the 4 red guide lines shows the various peaks.
You will see that the cyan peak (and its loudness graph) is higher than the original signal which I don't think I would want, as a default. The green peak (and its loudness) are lower as the global controls are 50% Wet and 85% Dry.
If you want, you could set it to 0 dB, then save the default settings, in the Settings window.

Hmmm, interesting, I'll check!
Edit: The question is if it matters, I mean the Delay range has been extended to 10 seconds anyways, so this particular plugin just causes backwards compatibility problems I'm afraid. It's in the release notes.

I suppose it matters only as far as using previous presets and the convenience of not needing to set the band dry to silence. Personally I'm ok with the inconvenience, especially if it is not a simple fix on your side.

The fix is actually very simple, my only concern is whether it is a good thing, because normally one would probably wants this set to 0dB. I dunno, will think about it!

Could you explain why? With my logic I think that the default should be 'silence', then use the global 'Dry' control (above the meters) to mix in some of the original.MeldaProduction wrote: because normally one would probably wants this set to 0dB.
Also, what does a 0 DB value for a band''s Dry control mean? From a brief investigation here it looks like it is the gain applied to the band's dry signal.
Further, perhaps the global 'Dry' control should use the same (dB) units and range as the bands' 'Dry' controls. For the global 'Dry' it looks like 100% = 0 dB gain, 75% = -2.5 dB, 50% = -6 dB and 25% = -12 dB.

I actually reverted it to silence, because there's the global Dry parameter, which does the trick.
