If this thread goes long enough every feature that makes sense and some that don't will be suggested....more than once.... and if they are all implemented we'll see DUNE 3 in the fall of 2035. :hihi:

Anyway these make sense (as do some of the others I've read):

I don't envy Synapse trying to sort through all the feature requests but I have the feeling the road map is already drawn for the most part.

Post

- VST3 Support

- A reasonable preset browser

- Resizable GUI

- Sample OSC' s (not multisampling, only using samples as waverforms like in the D-50)

- Arp MIDI-Out

- Wavetable-Editor

- The possibility to import wavetables from other manufacturers like Serum etc.

- DUNE 1 compatibility

- Drag & Drop modulation

Seriously, why on earth would it have that? I find backwards compatibility to Dune 2 already a bummer, because, the dev has to put all kinds of stuff a new synth wouldn't really need in it, to make it compatible, but, Dune 1 really doesn't have anything to do with even version 2 now. IMO, the dev shouldn't at all make it compatible with any former version. I know, i am very sorry for the preset designers who can't sell their presets anymore then, but, frankly, backwards compatibility is a PITA, which just slows down, or hinders development of a new synth. There's already a big chance that Dune 3 will be nothing but a mere update for Dune 2, with a couple more filters, and features, and that's it.

Would be nice if no discussion are requested in the OP so Richard, being busy working on Dune 3, will only read feature requests here and not waddle amongst endless pages of debate ;)
Mebbe so.

But ..... if I was a dev I'd love to hear everything.

This is the free-est market research a dev can get, here at KVR :)

Meanwhile I'll be happy to take whatever Richard kicks out, so long as the upgrade price is reasonable.

Dune has a wonderful core sound that electrified me from the get go.

In some ways I even preferred Dune 1 over Dune 2, as the core sound was so warm and pleasing to my ears.

And I much prefer Dune 2 to my Spire, which imo is more brittle & crystalline, compared with warm D2.

Looking forward to whatever comes my way (so long as the GUI is resizable  )

I doubt the dev is hanging out reading this thread. But, a grain filter would rock. A grain filter at Dunes audio quality is probably a no go though, IDK

Post

... yeah, I'm fearful synapse will have to bring down the quality of the audio in order to add stuff to Dune, but if they go that route they could slip in a grainularizer fx at the end of the signal chain before audio out.

Not sure there's even a need for a Dune 3 though.
So you're the one :hihi:

For those of you clambering for a second filter, what I did was go pick up cable guys filtershaper and I now have the full range of filters that are found on DUNE2 in a dual filter module.

IMO, they should shove a new, improved sound engine in it, don't care about backwards compatibility, and do some detail improvements everywhere. A second filter would be great e.g. The architecture is already great, and surely something i'd wished to have in other synths too. Not much to improve there really.

Fxpansion Strobe2 has a good example of well made preset browser:
- presets can be filtered according to categories (lead, drum, etc)
- ability to mark presets as favorites (or 1-5 stars) and sort preset list according to this rating

SMH you'd be hard pressed to find this type of instrument with better sound quality... there are maybe 2 of them.
