I'm trying to decide wether its worth it for me to upgrade to Waveform from T7 and the only thing that possibly entices me is the pattern generator. I've only seen one video that really didn't get into the details so would love some feedback if anyone has had a chance to really get into it...

I suppose the usefulness depends on what music you want to make. Why not download the demo and try it out?

I tried the demo, and it sold me on Waveform. I already had another DAW, and have never been a Tracktion user. But this makes it so easy to quickly sketch out a chord progression, with a bass line! Just set the key in the Tempo Track and set the pattern generators to follow the key.
It even lets you add a matching arpeggiator, if that's your thing. Plus the melody generator lets you "paint" in notes that only fit the chord progression. Not sure how useful that will be for writing original tunes, but it's sure fun to play around with. All in all, these are some unique creative tools that I have not found in any other product!

I second that, I love the pattern generator and I am sure that it'll be improved upon yet again in the future. it's worth it!

Ok, got Waveform and loving the pattern generator so much. Really amazing and intuitive system. Really hope it keeps being developed! Thanks everyone for the great input.
