Hey Chandlerhimself -

That is one flippin' great YouTube!

The first part is very nice, but it's the second part that is worth its weight in gold, where you talk about applying it to a project where settings already exist by making a preset (I only watched it once so far) - that really makes it rock.

One suggestion ... what do you think about renaming the title of this post to "Multiparameter Automation"? It's really so much more than EQ alone, and it may show up better in search engines for those trying to get their head around Multiparameters.

Thanks again!

Thanks. I adjusted the title a bit, so it is more obvious it is for multi parameters. I'll try to add to the description and tags on youtube too. There are tons of cool things that are possible with multiparamters and I hope more people share how they use them too.

Thank you for watching.

Hi Chandlerhimself -

I've been re-watching your most excellent vid, especially the 2nd half, good stuff!

I think I have 3 questions, if you have a moment ...

1) How does that preset work ... do I copy/paste it somewhere into the Melda plugin?
2) Does your present work for MAutoDYnamicEQ?
3) If not ... can you point the way please for me to get started one making one that does?

Thanks again for all your hard work!

loved this one man! thanks!
Viva la Melda and Chandler!

Alexis1 -

1) At the bottom right of the screen there are 2 icons under "A/B". Just copy the code above and then click the right icon for the paste symbol. The preset should load automatically.

2). I haven't tried it in MADEQ, so I'm not sure, but i just made a preset for MADEQ, so I'll try to post that here tonight. That preset also allows you to set the dynamics.

Thavma - Thanks

Cool video.
Is there any special reason you left out band seven or do you just never use more bands than six?
SOUND!

(btw. when you switched from B->A and multiparameter 1 reseted to 50%, it's because there was no parameters attached and enabled in it, so for optimization reasons the engine doesn't save it)

Oliver.Lucas - Thanks. Are there 7 bands on MEQ? I forget.

Meldaproductions - Good to know. Its not a big deal it just surprised me.
Thank you, Chandlerhimself. That's a lot of work you've done for the community! Very cool stuff too :)

I know this can be extrapolated to any plug that has multiparameter. What is the guiding principle behind making a preset in them, of the kind you've done for the EQ s?

Thanks!

alexis1 - The main idea is that the are somethibgs you might want to change for different sections. I think EQ is one i would use for most mixes, but even things like compression or modulation could be automated.

For these types of presets just make sure you put everything that you think you might want automated in the multiparameter. Once you save it as a preset, in the future you can use it and it will be faster than using multiple parameters in your DAW. For example with a delay I might want to make it louder, decrease the treble, increase the feedback or chnage delay times. I'd add all of those to a multiparameter and then in the next song I made I'd set the delay setting for each section and then save it in banks. That reminds me i really should do this for MdelayMB because it would be useful there.

Got it, thanks much!

Just a quick question please, as this would be my first preset ... if after doing all that I find later there's one thing I forgot to put in the preset, can one add to it/write over it, or does one have to start from scratch?

Thanks!

alexis1- You should just be able to add the missing parameter. Of course in the parameter list it won't look nice and orderly, but it will work. No need to start over for 1 mistake.

Remember that you can re-order Multiparameters, click the Muliparameter's menu button.
