There's this one, I believe it's Howard's favourite. (I had to import it into our internal office chat system.)

That's the way it's going to be, sort of.

We're going to let (notice the future tense) our internal team do at least one round of internal testing.
Ideally, they'll love it as it is, come here to spam the forum about how great everything is.
Then we can kick off the public beta slash introductory phase, which -as usual- is going to be announced in a newsletter.

In an ideal world. But maybe that first part needs a couple of repetitions until we can get to that second part, I guess we'll see. :)
Cheers

One couldn't want it stated clearer:
urs heckmann‏ @uheplugins

Once Repro-5 comes out there'll just be "u-he Repro" containing 1 & 5. Owners of Repro-1 will be upgraded automatically. Sound good?
Indeed it was the only possibility based on all the statements he has made at trade shows and here.

Woaaaw this is insane! thank you Urs!

Btw, if repro is 8 voices why not to call it just repro 8 :D

Because there'd be people who might think it would have to be inspired by a Prophet T8 then, which has a different filter chip.

OK - interesting. A friend of mine had a T8 but I was unaware of that difference. Is that different filter interesting/better/worse than the P5 model>

It's a different chip, the T8 uses the same filter chip as in the Prophet 600. Not sure if it's for the better or worse, since there are a lot more factors to sound quality than that. For instance, Korg Polysix and Siel Opera 6 have the same filter chip (SSM2044) but totally different sound.

Just call it Prophet 08... ok, maybe not.

U-he you guys opened pandoras box with the tweaks page. We would not be upset if you called it Repro-8 and offered both filters in the tweaks page in a later update. lol

No one would be upset at all :)

The thing with the CEM3372, and the other later CEMs is that they have resonance compensation built in. The very thing that people complain about in Repro-1, which, IMHO, is a part of the sound, is a key aspect of the difference.

Also, the CEM3372 is more than a filter, it also has a VCA built in rather than the external 3280 of the Pro-1.

Obviously there are probably a lot of other minor differences, but, given SSI's propensity to largely rely on reference designs, their synths from those days will rely heavily on the characteristics of the chipsets.

Actually, please don't... It is perfect as it is...

What it be more descriptive for everyone if we just named it RePro-5-8-3320? RePro-5 obviously because it's a Prophet 5. The -8 because this one is 8 voices. And the -3320 so we know which revision of the filter chip it is?

In fact, maybe call it Repro-5-Rev-3-8 instead? Better? I mean sure, RePro-5 rolls off the tongue a lot easier, but if accuracy is the goal... :P

R for Repro
2+3=5
2^3=8
P for Prophet
