The demo crackling is driving me mad! (Though between the crackles Hive really impressed me.)

Hi!

I just decided to try Hive again. I tested it briefly when it was released and thought it wasn't for me. I considered it a subset of Zebra 2 and since I already own Zebra 2 I figured I wasn't the intended audience.

For some reason (partly ROLI compatibility reasons, and partly impressive Hive science demos) I decided to give Hive a new shot. Hive sure seems to lend itself to some interesting sounds. I am impressed!
However, the demo crackling is driving me absolutely mad. I can't stand demoing more than a few patches at a time because the crackling just goes all the time it seems. I didn't remember it being quite so obnoxious. Does the frequency increase over time?

I looove the demo restrictions on Zebra. Why did you leave that system? I really find the crackling disturbing to the point that it is hard to actually evaluate the synth. I guess this is partly due to many experiences with crackling in DAW projects due to CPU limitations. I have very bad feelings associated with crackling. The swooshing sound Madrona Labs use for demo limitation is much less obnoxious. I love to evaluate a synth by trying to make some patches to see how quickly I can get the results I want. That worked beautifully with Zebra, and by the point that I bought it, I had already made some 20 patches that I was happy with. With the crackling noise it is really tedious to try to make a patch. (I bought Repro-1 and Presswerk, so I guess the crackling didn't stop me those times.)

Would you consider making the crackling slightly less obnoxious?

Welcome to the club... like you, i briefly tested Hive when it came out, and wasn't too impressed, something about the character really didn't suit me well. Demo'd it again about a month, or two ago, and, can't say i disliked it much. Frankly though, i'm really set in regards of that type of synth, because i already have Sylenth1, and, especially, Spire, which suits me a tad more than Hive, so.

Didn't find the crackling so hard to bear with though. I like that "Test the full synth for 30 days" option better though.
