Would be epic. That's most of my posts so far!

Software: (I'm gonna get hung to dry on this one)

Synthmaster - terrible GUI, extremely versatile...but to a detriment

Serum - too heavy...too wide. Might be great for some but not for what I do....constantly have to scoop it out of the mix

Sylenth - just reminds me too much of a virus

Audjoo Helix - GUI from hell

Hardware:

Blofeld - menu diver, creative drain

Juno 106 - nightmares with the voice chips

JX3P - fell in love with the sound. PG200 broke and then I never wanted to touch the damn thing again.

I felt EXACTLY the same. Good thing i own Largo, which brought back the fun again. :D If they made the Blofeld accessible, on the other hand, like, for example, a Virus TI, then it would be a different thing, really. But a lot pricier too then.

if you buy a vintage synth for a good price, then you can't really regret buying it because you can sell it for around what you paid for it. i'd buy a virtual synth as soon as i found one that replaces Charlatan or Synth1. i almost bought a u-he synth license, but even zebralette takes just too long to dial up a sound, can't get podolski to make a single tone that i am trying to, and zebra you need a PhD in sound design to understand. (and many consider U-he to be the best in the business.) I'm in this field for almost 17 years, and I don't really care if this makes me sound stupid. something about the commercial synths causes them to feel the need to pack features in so densely to justify the price, that they're just too fiddly to use. That said, I own an FS1R and although it is Lovecraftian in it's complexity, i do not regret buying it because it's still worth what i paid for it.

Try Spire for Synth1 replacement :tu:

Not true really, there are commercial synths that aren't 7 headed beast's like Zebra, Synthmaster, Avenger and etc, by your writing you tried Zebra and called a day, try Hive or RePro 1 from U-He for example, there's RePro 5 coming soon too, so watch out for that.

Sampletank 2.
Absolute piece of garbage!
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

Have you tried Hive or Diva?

There are several nice Blofeld editors out there, both free and commercial where currently i use Monstrumfeld.

Besides that after a while of using the Blofeld and knowing about how the hardware interface works also programming it from hardware is possible.
The editing matrix (4 buttons + 4 knobs) allows controlling 40 of the main parameters quite easily.
For each section additional parameters are then available with the display and the 3 knobs around the display.

The graphical display of the Blofeld which in that way is not found in e.g. Virus or Nord Lead synths is quite helpful too.

For the Arpeggiator patterns (up to 16 steps) you got a graphical display of all steps which helps while editing a pattern and/or steps with the Blofeld hardware.

The LArgo plugin is very nice but it is no full replacement for the Blofeld IMO. This also includes missing features in Largo like e.g. PPG filter mode, sample palyback and use wavetables.

It is unlikely that all those will be also added to Largo soon. Would be quite stupid to add all features of Blofeld to Largo if they still want to sell the Blofeld hardware too. Maybe once the Blofeld is discontinued they could add those features to Largo. lofeld seems to be out for almost 10 years now while i got mine since 7 years and FWIW with 8 years i got Largo even longer (boxed version back there in 2009).

The Mangle. Not that I regret money spent, but the fact that it's unsupported and in fact in uncertain state. I don't even know which version is up to date or if they're compatible with eahc other. :help:

Oh yeah, Diva is awesome Charlatan substitute. :tu:

Z3TA I just don't like the way it looks and it's development is no where near that of my u-he synths but saying that I have a feeling my Korg Odyssey will never get new features added.

i, for one, have no real regret in having bought one synth or another, they're so many of them with convincing qualities that i regret not having enough time and the guts to investigate all of them in deep...
