In fact, I wished I could add "resizable" to the "selling point"! I'll work on that!
Anyhow, the 88 voices is a huge point, because it does free the actual performer/composer from having to worry about voice limits. The trouble here is that I really cater to the musician, who actually wants to play an instrument and LotS really is meant to be an instrument, not a synth. I most likely have not made that point loud and clear enough. The physical modeling refers to the spring systems that allow for the kind of performance it offers. While it truly is physical modeling, it does not really reflect the kind of properties people are familiar with, when they hear that term. I could see that as an issue against expectations, too.
However, I happily take your great lecture on board and ponder over those points for sure! I do believe it has a lot to do with presentation as well, making clear what people should expect from it.
As for GUI representation, again, it's a presentation shortcoming of mine, because the huge tuning bars really are not only a pretty representation, but a very powerful performance tool in themselves. Again, far outside of the norm, I understand.
But animating elements I tried to keep to a minimum, simple because I'm not confident enough, yet, (aka scared) to hook up moving parts like that, needless to say how best to place them economically. All stuff I intent to learn for sure!
The biggest of troubles is that I am not just a programmer, but also the musician, tailoring the tool to how I perform. This is really problematic, because I may not represent the norm in any way!? Yet, I end up believing it is quite powerful the way it is. That means:
Sigh... there's a lot I still have to figure out. Communicating new ideas is likely always a challenge, and I think LotS has a number of new ideas that require better communication.
Again, THANKS, Peter, it's fantastic and very kind that you wrote all that so thoughtfully and I'll do my best to honor it in time as I keep refining everything, even beyond LotS, of course.
