A funny thing about fender "jazz" basses. In the beginning people called them Fender "electric" basses But that name had already been taken. Leo Fender struck a deal for building Rhodes electric pianos. He and Harold Rhodes met up helping vets in rehab after WW!! they developed a "bass" version of the Rhodes. This was long before the electric bass came to be.Voice303 wrote:Nothing too special, but picked up a MIM Fender Jazz Bass.

The Precision Electric Bass Guitar was the preferred bass for Jazz bassists in the 50's and 60's in NY because the instrument was favored by Jazz Bassists. Due to the Portability factor.
