Any good (or at least decent) drum machine on Linux for Waveform?

I'm happy with Waveform on Linux so far, I can play with BioTek and Collective, but.... There's just no drum machine/kits at all...
I've been looking around, it seems choices are Hydrogen (standalone, so not OK) or DrumGizmo (LV2 only, it seems unsupported by Waveform...)
So I'm kinda out of luck so far. What do you guys use ?

I'm not very familiar with drum plugins on Linux but depending on what you want to do, Collective does have some drum kits, look in the "Percussion" category.

There's also the "Schlagzeug" plugin from http://lsp-plug.in/, which is available (Linux)VST and LV2 format. You have to create your drumkit presets from third-party sample sets for this, though (there are lots of free drum sample sets available on the net).
You can use LV2 plugins in Waveform on Linux by loading the Carla VST and then loading the LV2 plugin in Carla. You have to use the 2.x beta version of Carla.
You have to start Carla stand-alone first and scan for plugins. I also recommend to create a preset in Carla with the plugin(s) and the settings for the plugin you want in the stand-alone version and then just load that preset in the Carla VST in Waveform. Sometimes opening a GUI of a plugin inside the Carla VST fails or crashes or has weird bugs in Tracktion/Waveform. But loading the Carla VST and the plugin(s) inside usually works.

+1 for Renoise Redux .... You have to do some reading of the PDF manual but once you get the hang of making instruments or drum kits it's great. I got rid of NI Battery4 recently .. really like Redux ... Right now you can't multi input out on Waveform on racks , but you can do it in Tracktion 7 on racks . It's a known bug at the moment with Waveform .

This should be addressed in the next update.fedexnman wrote:Right now you can't multi input out on Waveform on racks , but you can do it in Tracktion 7 on racks . It's a known bug at the moment with Waveform .

it's easy to use Collective synth and Step Clips as drum machine:
take a look in Waveform 8 User Guide Chapter 27 - Step Clips
you can find any step clips in Waveform under Search - Step Clips, which can be modified and stored as new step clips.
use Collective and select any drumkit from catagory percussion.
that's it ...

Thanks a lot for all the replies. I tried the demo version of Redux, huh... It's a bit complicated indeed! I'll see if I can find a video tutorial.
For Collective and Step Clips, good idea, I'll check that!

There are some good YouTube tutorials on Renoise ... As well as the quickstart PDF and manuals for Redux and Renoise ... I've had licenses for both but use Redux more , I cannot for the life of me get used of a tracker type work flow (Renoise) even for beats ... I actually didn't get on with either til I cracked the manual for Renoise/Redux and made a drum kit .. It's replaced NI Battery4 and OneSmallClue Poise VST plugins for me . I wish there was a Linux version of Poise it is very similar to and MPC style machine 16 drum pads with velocity or round robins and 16 outputs. Redux after learning it is very powerful way better than Hydrogen for Linux. Don't throw in the towel on learning it you won't find a better Sampler for Linux period .ErBen wrote:Thanks a lot for all the replies. I tried the demo version of Redux, huh...
