So is T2 ready and waiting? I am guessing of course but I think it is. Mackie are probably waiting for the big boys to finish up and then within 2 months we'll see T2.

Or Mackie could try and release T2 while Sonar 4 is still hot news and possibly provide a really credible option to Sonar 4. Either way if T2 comes out after S4 maybe some of the Sonar 4 features will make their way into Tracktion 2. 8)

Also I wonder if it's possible to beta test T2? :? A public beta similar Live 4 would be interesting.

looks like sx 3 is on the way also, been seeing previews and whatnot around... c'mon T2!

If it's ready, then I think Jules is some kind of super-human coder. Or the feature list is a bit less impressive than we'd hoped. Or the changes required to support our wishes were less extensive that I'd imagined.

Give the man some time, guys. :-) My guess is sometime close to Christmas, but that's just a gut feeling. If Mackie were to do some sort of marketing coup, they'd have to bring it out before S4 and SX3, not after it, otherwise people will have already spent their sequencer money.

If I'm not mistaken, Mackie can apply pressure (and they'd only bother if they thought it'd increase sales of Spike) but not actually be a deciding factor in the release date of T2. It's a RawMaterialSoftware app last time I checked. ;)

I vote for Jules taking his time to do it right. If you get caught up in the marketing games, you'll ALWAYS be releasing crap that's not ready for release just for the sake of beating people to the punch. No, I'd rather see a better app. The majority of Sonar purchases will be upgrades, and ditto for SX3. That's a consumer base that's already in existence and wouldn't jump ship until AFTER the release of the latest versions of "their" programs, when they'd be able to hear if it's worth the price of upgrade.

For new users, I also don't think that release dates will have a big enough impact on potential sales to worry about it. People brand-new to sequencing will still look to Tracktion as being more suited to their budget (most brand-newbies are quite surprised to find out that big sequencers cost multi-hundreds). More experienced users... well, see above paragraph.

Depending on how much say Mackie has in the whole thing, we won't hear about T2 until it's ready for download, so I wouldn't count on a beta test or teaser preview.

To recap--

- it's not up to Mackie
- I'd rather see a quality product
- 'marketing' games are a sham and should be avoided
- Can someone get me a beer? I'm thirsty!

I rather the big boys play their cards first. Jules has a huge to do list so it'll take some time to get everything solid. It'll be fun to see what SX3 and S4 have up their sleves :-o. I cant wait.

No question about it I certainly want Jules to take his time. I think T2 will be very innovative. Tracktion V.1 was a very clever piece of work indeed.I am sure T2 will add even better features like those mentioned here by lowkeyfrom our good friend AD80's now famous Host rumour thread 8)

I think Lowkey's view point here is really spot on and is right in line with Jules thinking for T2.

"The thing that makes Trackton great and will ensure Trackton 2 is as usable as Trackton 10++ Ultra?

Filters.

Other programs have to add a menus there and a check box here to add new features. A few updates down the line and you have the situation the Big 3 are in. You need a map to use them.

Now Im not saying for a moment Jules would or should implement everything the older sequencers have but if he did and he used filters to do it the work flow would not change.

Heres some "what if" examples...

You have your a loop and you want to slice it up? Drag down the "Transient to midi" filter and place it on your audio. Adjust the settings in the filter dialoge then hit "Chop". Hey presto! You have audio slices loaded into a sampler filter with the midi part to go with it.

Want to store a midi dump of your hardware synth? Drag the midi in to the track you want then drag a "SYSEX" filter to that track. Click "Receive" in the filter dialogue then send your dump. Done and dusted.

Because of the way Trackton is designed even the wildest "use once in a life time" feature wont affect your work flow because "you select them when you need them" not "you try to find where the programmers have hidden the menu".

as I have always said, ENOUGH SPECULATION! It is only hyping people up, and making people anxious. Just wait and be surprised! The sooner it comes out, the more bugs, then the more complaining. Just stop this!

MPEX Time Stretching??? Cubase SX had that algorithm years ago. Man if T2 doesnt have a good time stretch I'll be shocked.

Speculation is fun :D.

I'm not anxious at all. Theres only 3 or 4 things I need in T2 for me to be in sequencing Nirvana. So I'm looking forward to it. S4 should be awsome too. I wanna see how much they have improved.
