TX16Wx with Rack Filter

Using T5, I want to use the multitimbral sampler TX16Wx to play 5 different MIDI clips on 5 different tracks.
I set up the sampler plug in with 5 different instruments on 5 different MIDI channels. I can set each clip to the proper MIDI channel so that the correct instrument is played, but this seems terribly cumbersome if there are quite a few clips. It also doesnt really allow me to save this as a template or a setup.
I tried to wrap the TX16 sampler in a rack, but I can only see one midi in/out. I expected to see all 16 channel ins outs.
Has anyone else setup this sampler plugin like this or or similar multitimbral plug in?

Hello , There is some issues with "some" Multiple output VSTi plugins with Waveform ... I have issues with Renoise Redux plugin ... I use it with racks ... drowaudio has said that it'll be fixed in next Waveform release . I'm taking a wild guess here by saying this should fix your issue too .. aboit the template issue , the best thing to do is to open a new project/song and set your plugin racks and tracks up and save that song as a template ...

Being a little inexperience with this this is what I think my issue is:
I want to use one instance of TX16 and set 16 tracks to send data to TX16. But I want track 1 to send on channel 1, track 2 to send on track 2 etc.
The only MIDI channel parameter I have in Tracktion is on the properties at the clip, not on the track. So this could be quite a lot of clicking to set each clip to the proper midi channel if I have a lot of clips!
I tried to wrap the TX16 in a rack filter thinking it would give me 16 MIDI inputs and 16 MIDI outputs plus the other audio ins and outs. But all that show up in the rack is ONE MIDI in and out.
I have searched some forums for answers and I might need an additional plug that works as a MIDI data filter.
Anyone else try this with TX16 or another multitimbral sampler?

I'm not use about the midi ins and outs ... I know in Tracktion all versions up to Waveform that you can have multiple audio outputs to multiple tracks .. I usually set up a folder track and inside that folder I'd have 16 tracks, I'd have the VSTI wrapped in a rack with 16 instances of the wrapped plugin on each track . On each track you have to select the ins and outs . It's cumbersome but I think that's the Modular part of Tracktions rack system .. some hosts are alot easier to setup mulit output VSTi plugins then others . Tracktion is a little cumbersome that's why I always make a song template after I setup something like this ... I'm not sure about the midi in and outs. There is a PDF manual online for Tracktion and probably the Waveform one would help too . There also is some YouTube videos on racks too .

The easiest solution for a multitimbral synth setup in Waveform that I have found is like this:jmcmillan wrote:Using T5, I want to use the multitimbral sampler TX16Wx to play 5 different MIDI clips on 5 different tracks.

1. Insert your synth (ex: TX16Wx) on Track1, with the desired programs for each channel.
2. Insert MIDI clips on Tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, etc. for as many as you have used channels in the synth.
3. Insert a Plugin Rack before the synth in Track 1. The Plugin Rack only needs to be setup to pass MIDI thru, in to out. I created one Rack for this and saved it to use as a template for any time I need a MIDI thru Rack.
4. Ctrl-drag (copy) the new Plugin Rack onto the output for each MIDI track.
5. This is probably the only part that is cumbersome. Go to each MIDI clip, select it, and down in Waveform properties toggle the MIDI channel to the channel in your synth with the respective program for that clip.
I tested this with TX16Wx and it works. Also works in T5.

Well in Tracktion, the Plugin Rack set up for "MIDI in to MIDI out" (MIDI thru) bridges it all together in an omni sort of way. Track 1 will see everything on its MIDI input.jmcmillan wrote:Thanks for the setup! I have one question:
How does Track 2,3, 4 etc. know to send data to track 1?
So if you have included a copy of the MIDI thru Plugin Rack on each track, the data flows from all to all, like a broadcast.
That is why it is necessary to set the MIDI channel in each MIDI clip appropriately. That way only the correct program in TX16Wx responds to MIDI data for the channel assigned to it.

And just to provide a bit more detail on step #3 in the Plugin Rack setup... you can safely delete any plugin placeholders in the rack, as well as the audio ports, so that you are only left with MIDI in and MIDI out. Then drag the MIDI connector from in to out, and presto, MIDI thru!!! Save as a new rack preset.zzz00m wrote:The easiest solution for a multitimbral synth setup in Waveform that I have found is like this:jmcmillan wrote:Using T5, I want to use the multitimbral sampler TX16Wx to play 5 different MIDI clips on 5 different tracks.

[Edit] Just noticed a few differences in the rack between T5 and Waveform. In T5 it seems there is no option to remove the audio L/R in/out ports like you can do in Waveform. So just leave them disconnected. The best way to get started is "create new empty rack" from the insert menu. Otherwise you can edit an existing rack and remove all connections and plugs within, then just connect the MIDI.

Ah I see how that works. I would like to make a template to save me from the cumbersome part. So maybe insert midi clips on each track, set them to channel 1,2,3 etc. then save as template? Then I can just open template and start playing/recording!
