But It's understandable (and makes more sense, I must admit) that most people prefer to have the "play" button avaliable right from the post.

So this is 4 mo's since this was posted and all the buzz started about this. Is there anything tangible to suggest it's true or was it just another rumor started on the ever-reliable internet?

I wonder how much longer they can drag it out, they alienated content creators a long time ago. The mobile app used to be indispensable to me but now you can't record or check notifications even when the app sends you them, i miss the old soundcloud...

I expect this, it was down to being approved by previous investors, but getting shortchanged is better than losing your investment. In any case, it also sounds like the new leadership was necessary if this statement from Techcrunch is true.

Sources from the company told us the layoffs had been planned for months, but SoundCloud still recklessly hired employees up until the last minute, with some being let go within weeks of starting. Employees told TechCrunch that the company was “a shitshow” with inconsistent product direction and dwindling cash. Ljung was seen as reluctant to be honest with the team, and unfocused as he partied around the world like a rock star.

I hope they also have a vision and direction for Soundcloud, for last year it's been just a music file dump for me.

For years they only survive from investments, just check wiki. Approximately 17 Million $ operated income with formerly 400 employees is not much. The account of that CEO is filled, so he doesn't care too much. It is only a matter of time if they don't rethink their business model. They burn cash like nothing.

Is now the time to roll back on the changes made to soundcloud? I hope so. Bring classic sc back.

So, first, I have to admit that musically I'm pretty lame, so maybe it's just not for me. However, I don't get what the appeal of soundcloud is or was? I have several SC accounts, I use one just for posting bullshit snips here, which, I don't do very often and it works fine for that. I have one that has a couple of tracks on it because all my friends want to know what my soundcloud is, but, the first time I uploaded a WIP to it I realized that I had to create a new track in order to update the audio file, so, I was done. I still have a couple of tracks on it, but they're just a placeholder really.
I would be completely out of space if I had to upload my music to soundcloud without paying. I currently have something between 25 and 30 hours of music uploaded to Bandcamp. Nobody buys my stuff, but that's ok, because lots of people buy other people's stuff and that gives BC a business model to support my lame ass with.
There's plenty wrong with Bandcamp, I find that facebook is actually better at connecting me to people with similar music tastes. Hell, even hearthis.at does a better job at that as well and I only really upload junk there. But, as a place to hold and link my music, it works great.
I just don't get what the soundcloud business model could possibly be?
No offense, but I've heard a lot of music from KVR members, and while I like some of it, I'd no sooner pay for your music than I would expect someone to pay for mine. So, I don't understand what the appeal is for even other, apologies in advance, "musical nobodies." What do you guys get out of it? Why do you care about having an app?
