Hi there,

sorry for making a new feature request, Vojtech. :ud:

How about loop points in the envelopes?

I know jmg once wrote you could do it with the tremolo feature of the envelope, but:

1. It is not intuitive and not accurate.
2. I cannot achieve the envelope I have in mind.
3. I cannot link the points of the custom shape to a modulator.

... while I cannot link any shape point to a modulator ... hm. Bummer. :(

I'd really love the envelopes of Absynth inside Meldas tools.

My initial problem, maybe somebody can help me achieve this in another way with Meldas tools? I want to have a simple decaying sound. But I would like it to repeat and I want to be able to control the speed of this repetition. I then tried the arppegiator, but there I cannot control the speed without musical fixed lengths. I'd like to be able to control the speed of the "loop" of this single envelope and the lengths of the decay simultaneously.

Thanks! :)

Have you tried to customize the shape of an LFO instead of using the Envelope?
As long as your desired decay level is relative depending on the rate, then using the Sync settings should work pretty well.

I think it was my request that jmg replied to and I never really figured out the tremolo as loop point approach.
My problem with the LFO, or even the Envelope, is that I feel like I am jumping through hoops to draw shapes. That is due to being accustomed to plugins that allow you to draw directly in the graphical representation of the Envelope or LFO or MSEG. I'm pretty sure that it is a 'just me' thing that I'm frustrated at changing tabs or using pop up windows, so I deal with it. :)

Use a normal modulator with custom shape (not an envelope) if you copy your settings here of what you have, i will take a look for you.

Did you know in the custom shape editor window you can right click and select draw mode? Then you can draw the shapes you want.

Hah!
Yes. I know it. Do I DO it? No.
We all get trapped in habits...breaking them and remembering things is the hard part.

Hey, thanks for your replies.

jmg: when I want a volume envelope for a synth, to what should I link the MOD inside MPowerSynth then? :? And the next question: how could I modulate the shape then? Such things aren't possible yet in Melda tools, or do I miss something?

I can send you a preset later, when i get home. But basically attach mod 1 to global volume.
Leave mod 1 in normal lfo type mode.
Turn the custom shape all the way to 100%
Open customs shape editor and draw your envelope.
Enable midi retrigger so that the envelope triggers every time you play a note.
Attach a multiparameter to the speed of the lfo.

If you want to modulate the shape you can! Just use the learn function and move the nodes around. I will demonstrate with a preset later.

Hm, thanks for these tips. Many things are already clear to me. It was just that I would never try to modulate the global volume ... but why not ... after all. :D ... I will try this. Thanks!

Edit:

Here I started a preset. Just some quick testing with the MOD -> Global Vol linking. Not bad after all! Still: If I'd choose the custom shape for the MOD osc, I could not modulate the single points!

OK, so I forgot that you couldn't modulate the shape, sorry. The reason I thought that you can is that certain shapes CAN be modulated. One example of this is tremolo.
So take a look at this preset, it uses tremolo instead of modulating the main volume. So its quite flexible for changing the shape and speed at the same time.

OK...THAT Tremolo!

When I had originally asked about MSEG and jmg8 had said that Tremolo could serve the purpose, I went straight to the global panel and into the ADSR section. My thinking was glued to modifying an envelope and I minimized the attack and decay and set about to create my shape within the Tremolo of the Global ADSR.
I think I may have also tried/ done it using OSC1's ADSR. With so many ways to potentially do something, I am starting to think that maybe MPS needs an easy screen!

Ha ha, to be honest i DID mean the tremolo in the envelope section. You got it right first time.

Just wow. It really works! In a case where you would like to have this polyphone, it would not work well, though, but in my case it's enough. Thanks a lot jmg8. :)
