Hi all, I have been checking out Mdrummer Large recently and have a few suggestions for this fantastic drum sampler/sequencer. I love the new GUI look in recent patch.

- some places it's frustrating when you can't hear the sound when pressing on the Kit buttons like in the drumset editor. Also the Browser a double-click should preview the sound.

- in Song tab I think pressing there should play those patterns (mouse)

- in Rhythm Editor pressing those keys there should activate those patterns (with mouse)

The primary tabs along the top could become faded when not currently selected as to reduce the on-screen amount of items. eg. In Mixer tab the tabs Sends, Pitch, Channel, etc become hard to see in the contrast.

All in all after few days use I have lots to learn, but I think I spent a little while just figuring out where the main commands that I need are..

It wouldn't hurt to have a button in Quick-Setup just to load with nothing (blank patches) for when you want to start from scratch or just begin browsing samples.

lots of fun!

Also the Browser a double-click should preview the sound
In case you're referring to the browser that is visible in the Drumset Editor you can preview the selected waveform (or the patch when browsing the 4NN or Subsample presets) by pressing 'enter'.

I didn't realize that elassi, but I see that it sounds on the release of the enter key (just as mouse clicking on the pads in pad mode does). Better to use the A key (in the editor)...triggers on the 'down stroke'.

Heck, nobody knows MDrummer better than you. :)

While we're at it: This MDrummer-thingy is sooo capable of all thinkable ideas - yet somewhat difficult to operate. That said, today I got a newsletter from a respected company offering a discount on their bassdrum-proggy, and indeed it is powerful. Even better, it looks fantastic.

But as soon as one studies the specs, all of us have to admit that MDrummer can do it, too. Plus it can do much more.

We're just not able to follow Vojtech's workflow.

But it's good to be able to select in the Drumlist without previewing the sound...can use key A to preview after selecting.

Same consideration as above...good to be able to just select...you can preview by double clicking just above the channel strip anywhere along the timeline...space bar to stop (and re-start).
- in Rhythm Editor pressing those keys there should activate those patterns (with mouse)
Same again, good to be able to just select.

In quick setup selector there is an 'empty' patch down on the right when 'root' is selected on the left.

Anyway, not trying to disagree, just hoping these things might help, and yes, lots of fun!

Thanks elassi, but nah, I just love the damn thing, but yeah, complicated (but I love the challenge).

No need to tell me... spent nights with MDrummer standalone (guess that's why it exists...haha).

Ok, so here's quite a conversation :). sampliist is everything ok now, or some of the FRs are still relevant? I read it, but I was often very confused about what you actually mean. About the commands - I'd strongly recommend reading the beginning of the documentation. There's everything you need to begin with in a few pages. It's a powerful and complex thing MDrummer, so a little intro definitely helps.

Hey.. Thanks to the others for suggestins as well.
Preview in Editor - use 'A' key. Got it. Works good.

I think I have some sound FR's, still

Song mode
Buttons in Song mode - I still find these buttons some of the most difficult to use. The lack of preview is the first thing I wanted. I find it more prudent to hear the pattern before committing to it in the arrager.
Loop selection would be nice, too.

Contrast+colors
Contrast between different elements being focused. This could be interesting addition. I was thinking that elements that were being used would stand out more than elements which weren't, and those would look slightly dimmer.
Such as elements in the Mixer. "Silence" on the Send could be darker, and then start brightening the higher the slider value. It would help visually to let the user see at-a-glance which information is more relevant.

thanks!

I'm a newcomer to MDrummer, but the lack of a feature to listen the samples in the sample browser surprised me too!

...ooops, double post

Song mode:
I'm afraid I quite don't want to put too much development into this really. It's just a secondary thing for beginners, the recommended way is always the MIDI command method. Also note that it all depends on the rhythm, you change the rhythm, the loops change. In any case I'm afraid some kind of preview would be a rather big problem, (long story).

Contrast+Colors: I'm afraid I don't understand this one at all, any screenshots or something?
