(Based on a tip from Computer Music magazine.)

When extreme gains or cuts are required in an EQ, they can lead to harshness and phaseshift issues. One alternative is to use multiple moderate EQ bands:

On your images it totally looks like the EQ curves are exactly the same. Will there really be a noticeable difference?

@ jmg8 - nope, I cannot find that preset (was it a Preset Exchange one?)

@ Tagirijus - that's the idea, the EQ curves are meant to do look very similar. Distributing the processing between three bands should reduce phase issues and other artefacts. You may well nee to listen carefully, or do some A|B tests.

i would be more interested in a null test to establish that there actually are differences between the two.
