e.g. in Phaser etc. the upper limit is 20 kHz even at 96 kHz sample rate, where the actual limit is 30 kHz. Why isn't it going that high, shouldn't it be adaptive to the sample rate?

All our plugins are designed for the audible range 20Hz to 20kHz. Also this cannot be done, since the sampling rate can change while the parameters reported to hosts cannot.
