I think it is a Windows thing, like U-He said. It shows in FLS, but i am not sure if IL is to blame here?Chris-S wrote:When IL changed their DAW so that some plugins aren't running smooth anymore,

u-He Plugins are moving sluggish in FL12?

I don't know who's to blame. I'm just glad we finally got a workaround.exmatproton wrote:I think it is a Windows thing, like U-He said. It shows in FLS, but i am not sure if IL is to blame here?Chris-S wrote:When IL changed their DAW so that some plugins aren't running smooth anymore,

It's about the messages that our plug-ins get when the editor window is dragged around. They say "draw this rectangle" over and over, but the coordinates (position and dimension) of the rectangle seem wrong. When we use those coordinates to draw the plug-in view, there are white lines appearing in the window. The only reliable way to avoid those white lines is to draw the whole plug-in gui instead of the rectangle we're given. But because that happens quite often when moving the mouse, painting the whole editor costs a lot of CPU.
I don't know if it's a flaw in Windows or in the way FL uses it. Or maybe I am too dumb to see how it's meant to work. I only know that this behaviour is exclusive to FL and that it cost me an enormous effort of debugging, experimenting and restructuring to make it work.

Ive made a topic about same issue in october viewtopic.php?f=31&t=448604
Urs - it all started after the update that added options and midi assign panel on the right side of each of uhe instrument. Before that update everything was running 100% smooth.

If it doesn't happen in all other DAWs except FL, it does kinda imply that FL is at fault, no?

It does happen in all other DAWs ( atleast in FL, Bitwig and Ableton from my experience )EvilDragon wrote:If it doesn't happen in all other DAWs except FL, it does kinda imply that FL is at fault, no?

Well, no. Not exactly, or per se. It could be ofcourse, but other plugins are working just fine. So i guess it is a cumulation of several parts.EvilDragon wrote:If it doesn't happen in all other DAWs except FL, it does kinda imply that FL is at fault, no?

It happened since we fixed the White Lines bug - you can search this forum for it, it came up quite often.

Sounds about right to me. I've never experienced anything but stability with u-he. Minor exception to Diva's VST3 in Cubase but now that's fixed as well.EvilDragon wrote:If it doesn't happen in all other DAWs except FL, it does kinda imply that FL is at fault, no?
IL is another story. Hardly a single one of their VST plugins is without some kind of crash-inducing or feature-nullifying bug in Ableton Live. Sytrus can't access the FET editor without memory access violations for the last two versions. Harmor can't edit or ignore velocity->volume relationship (quote from IL support "this is a limitation of the VST version" encouraging). Edison can't record/edit long clips without crashing. Gross beat falls out of sync if you use (as intended) midi input on two consecutive bars. All of them without exception crash live if you try to group to rack or move to another channel with the plugin UI open. The VST/i versions of some plugs are WAY behind the FL versions. Et cetera, et cetera.
Sorry for the long rant. I have a love hate relationship with IL. They make amazing, unique, powerful plugins... especially if you're into sound design. But they really know how to make paying customers feel neglected.

Any update on this? Unfortunately, the u-he plugins are the only ones with GUI lag, and sometimes a white line bug in FL Studio. It's the only thing that's detracting from my experience with u-he. Please fix them (especially Bazille, Hive and RePro-1, which are my current addiction).Urs wrote:Yeah, it's been a weird one. Kind of chicken and egg problem exclusive to this host. A thing which was supposed to make things faster has actually slowed it down in FL.
We will publish fixed versions one by one as we get to test them in depth. Diva was the start, everything else will follow throughout the year.
