Level comp RMS ?

I'd just like to know what the "use RMS window" button feature is exactly in the level compressor. Is it the level compressor sidechain behavior ?
Does it just mean that when this button is on, RMS values are controling the level and when off, peak values ?
Or how can one set the window or is it a standard window ?

In one word, I'd like to know more about RMS window.... Thanks !

Indeed.

When RMS is on it uses a 1 ms RMS window on the input signal to measure the input signal level.
