Hi All, my first post
We are planning to use Tracktion 7 for our band backing tracks and click tracks from a laptop sent to Focusrite 6i6 1 stereo track and 2 mono click tracks, one for the vocalists and one for the keyboard player. The DAW does what we want but I need to find a way of auto stopping after every track and then pressing the space bar to start the next track. I am aware that the spacebar does stop and start but as the sound and lighting guy I have lots to do and may miss pressing the space bar to stop.. any advice or solution would be greatly received.. thanks in advance guys. Cheers.
Pause stop in Tracktion 7?

Or maybe it won't be quicker here after all!
I've been racking my brains to see if I can think of anything. I note there is a MIDI message (11111000 or 252 or xFC) whose job is "Stop the current sequence". There are also messages to Start and Continue. I'm wondering if they work with Tracktion and whether it's possible to include one in a MIDI clip at the end of each track. I can't see a way to insert such MIDI messages, though perhaps they could be recorded. Just leafing through the manual of a long-defunct software sequencer from 1989 to see if that could have done it.
You could request it as a new feature - the T devs are open to that kind of thing. It doesn't seem like a massive change. Perhaps a plug-in could be made to carry out a macro, which would open up a whole new realm of possibilities. For instance, a macro to save everything to file might be of use, as might a million more possibilities.

Didn't think it would be easy, nothing in my life us lol... I have researched the midi aspect and its a no go.. things can obviously be triggered by midi but in this circumstance I dont believe it would be possible to stop-cue up-and start by sending midi commands.
How do I post a request to Devs to request this simple stop function, maybe it could be an option for the marker track. So when I add an adjustable marker it could be an option to stop play back as well as the 2 options available. That would be so cool for our band. Thanks for your input its sincerely appreciated.. Cheers.

You're welcome. The marker track does seem a good place to put such a pause. It almost seems odd that on playback the playhead carries on forever, potentially long after any musical content has been passed (not your situation, of course), unless one is in loop mode.
There's a Waveform Feature Requests thread somewhere on the first page. New ideas are usually added to that.

Yeah, it would be logical to have an option to the effect "stop playback when all clips have completed". You wouldn't want this on record, but on playback only...
Now I don't know what effect that might have on the "retrospective record" function ? Invoking a shutdown at the end might prevent "creative ideas" coming in that dead playback space ! I must admit, though, I haven't used the retrospective record function.
... Although from a quick test, the retrospective record, if enabled, is always functional (if enabled) - so even if playback has stopped, the "retrospective record function" would still work.
