Hello,

u-he products support NKS from NI, right?
I just wondered if the "plugout" format of the system 8 is Roland-only
or can also be used by 3rd parties.
I guess its not possible to control or even load vsts inside system 8?

Its completely different things. Plugout is like VST but it's not the same. It's an proprietary format.

Plug-out is a completely Roland thing, so no 3rd parties. It's more of a case of loading their DSP code that is executed on their hardware on computer, than running VSTs on their hardware.

ok, thanks guys

You could still use the System 8 as a control surface for a u-he synth though couldn't you? Just use the MIDI learn? I presume (don't own a System 8) that you can turn off the sound engine?

But if Roland opened the development to third parties I would like U-he repro as a plug out. Shame it won't happen, Roland has really a gold tech here with their hw and they are sleeping on it.

ANd yeah, you can use MIDI learn to map the the system 8 to Diva, it works quite good.
