Getting lots of clicking will have to really think about what kind of 'song' is appropriate here.
Please let's get rid of it now! I vote for switching to a different, none-apha version synth.

I was thinking it would be like OSC8 - Gargoyle... something very different. How many people are finding the synth working ok? I tested it in various DAWS.

Post

Actually I've allready spent some time on it !
Not a fun fun synth, have to say, but quite interresting for me in terms of challenge of sound design. I would be a bit sad if everything's canceled hehe :p

So far I haven't encounter any of the flaws others have mentioned, but it seems to be impossible to get a steady percussion sound for example. Even heavy compression doesn't seem to help since the output levels vary so drastically, but I might need to experiment some more.

I'll post some kind of a track for sure, but this synth is limiting the style quite heavily.

Post

I started creating a track in ableton, no problems so far.
I might be the only one enjoying this synth :D

Just to show off :p
Here's some percussions. Ah, I mean, only the kick and the snare, and true, they can't stop moving around. It's like... a pain in the "ears", but some sines can do it :).
I want to thank Taron for a very good advice in the previous osc 102 about drums & delays.
Don't know if I'll go much further, or change everything.

 :tantrum: :dog:  :ud: "noisetar". Even Luigi would likely think we've lost our mind, hahaha!
I'm really almost grinning ear to ear with a somewhat insane stare. Hahaha... shiiiih... fun!
I did a little demo track for it back then, actually. About 20sec or so...

OH, you're VERY welcome and congrats on this VERY cool track already! This is pretty close to the most one could hope for, but it actually works pretty well! :tu:

As far as i kan see, it works fine in my Ableton Live 9 setup.

Btw I found a really nice bass patch (I honestly don't know how it works, but it works...)
I attached the screenshot of it. The pitch is controlled by OSC1 rate ... inversely! :o
Throw a nice bass boost EQ on it and there you go :D

Well I dont mind challenge. Even when synth is limited but that instability with presets and random sound change making it quite frustrating. It is already hard to making some usefull sounds and after spending a lot of time making usable presets when Im return and load project again preset changes and sound is acting weird.

In some situation synth output silence when tweaking. Maybe a quick session that make design, composing and mixing in one run right with final render to aviod issues  . One session chalenge.

I expected mostly FX tracks this round because without bandpass you cant transpose sound and with BP on you can get just kind of distorted sine that also produce rnadom polymono bug for me :hihi: .

I see that Taron already have experience with time synth. Just checked your track on KVR noistar page. Interesting backgound and weird hevy experimantal track :phones: .

Yes, it's the first time I tried to play with one sound for a little longer and it accumulates into some freaking out from which there is no comeback. So...I'll see, if I can talk to Luigi. Possibly he might be able to have a quick look at it, see if he can spot what accumulates and fix it, because broken it is for sure.

I see we don't have a lot of clear statements: "Yes, go with NoiseTar" or "No, let's get rid of it".
Seems you guys love "challenges", then go for it. Have fun, I'm out.

Wow, thanks, this one is cool ! It might be the only bass sound we can get, so I'll take care of it :tu:
For now I was just trying to stack the BP monophonic synths to play all harmonics by hand to get more squarry or sawwy sounds ^^. Of course with distorsion and waveshaping, everything could be possible, but I've read those ones are to avoid.

Checked Noisetar's KVR page too, found the examples, inspiring too  !
