You can do it without using a different channel as well. Just select, right click and select the plugin of choice.ericj23 wrote: as for visa tipani
highlight tha area you want - use your split loop shortcut - drag new peice to a different channel - effect away

I'd like to know this as well.topaz wrote:how ? as soon as you close the audio/vsti edit window it reverts back to Midi.

You are right topaz that is the case if you are using the popup window, I was under the impression we were talking about the in/out assignment of the vsti. This can be accessed directly from the VSTi inspector in the project window. There is no need to scroll over and make the popup window at all. It is also available from numerous other interface areas. I'm not saying its ideal, just that the scrolling isn't required depending on how you have your lanes set up.topaz wrote:how ? as soon as you close the audio/vsti edit window it reverts back to Midi.
or am I way off ?
Hopefully the silly method of having a MIDI and seperate VSTi track will go back the way it was in 5.1 so that finding some of these functions in the project window isn't such a nuisance.

In it's context, I think this particular "LOL" had its share of rudeness. Your lol implied strongly that GoaHead's remark - which was made quite seriously and hence didn't contain any humour as such - was ridiculous. This rudeness was further amplified by the fact that you didn't bother to elucidate why it was ridiculous. So yes, I'm being relatively serious when I claim that the post in which you reply to GoaHead with a LOL was "somewhat rude".Sascha Franck wrote:Since when is a "LOL" and some (at best a little sarcastic) remark considered being "rude" here @ K-v-R?visa tapani wrote: a somewhat rude remark in response to GoaHead's note on Cubase SX 2.2's stability.
Yes, I am rude at times - but you cartainly can't be serious about it this time, are you?
Yeah, I know... But often times I'd like to use tons and tons of different effects on, say, a drum track on very small sections and it's very very cumbersome to use different tracks for it...ericj23 wrote:as for visa tipani

No, this is not what I mean. First of all, this is only possible for audio - I'd like to do it with midi as well, and I think Samplitude and Tracktion allow this (I might be wrong though, and it might actually be impossible to allow this for midi). Second, If you do this in Cubase, you destructively alter the audio-clip. In the object-oriented editing you do not alter the source material at all, but apply the effect to a small segment as if it were a send-effect. If you apply several effects on one section you can later change their order or remove one of the effects. Furthermore, this effect applied is fully automatable. So yeah, there is a big difference in how you can approach using this with Samplitude/Tracktion and with Cubase...Sascha Franck wrote:You can do it without using a different channel as well. Oh, and one other thing in which I think Cubase is way behind: you can't change the order of the send-effects! This is *so* irritating. Thank god I can nowadays use EnergyXT and it's modular approach, but without it this would drive me crazy.

In SX2 the order of the send effects can be changed, but the order of the inserts within a track or FX track can't be changed.visa tapani wrote: Oh, and one other thing in which I think Cubase is way behind: you can't change the order of the send-effects! This is seriously bad.cold c wrote:In SX2 the order of the send effects can be changed, but the order of the inserts within a track or FX track can't be changed.
Very often I find myself wanting to insert, say, a compressor on a track (usually this should be the first insert effect), just to find out that the insert slot in question is occupied allready.
In Logic you can just drag FX around as much as you like.
Something that should defenitely be adressed in Cubase.

yes alafalfa - i know thats exactly what you mean - you can do it in sx 2 with ease
right click to make a group channel just in the area where all the other channels are - go to whatever you want to output there - find the drop down that states which ouput it goes too - select the group channel - done

$188 for upgrade for SX1/SX2 users. I think that is a little unfair, as I have paid for an SX2 upgrade, while SX1 users have not.

[quote="AlfalfaIn the main view? I'm talking about adding a bus and seeing it, available for editing and adding effects, in the main view. Essentially, it is treated like a track.[/quote]
The is purely terminology based issue. Cubase uses the term buss and In/Out primarily to relate to the physical IO of your sound card.
You can create on the fly the exact same routing buss like Sonar in 2 ways in SX2. Group tracks and FX tracks. You can then route other tracks to them either using the other tracks out or by using a send. There are a couple of stupid routing bugs but essentially its the same thing.

oh yeah - the applying fx to lits bits of midi cannot be done in samplitude and im pretty sure it cant be done in traktion - just to vsts or audio -
but the insert re-ordering is annoying - but i just leave spaces between my inserts - so i can always rejig them - still one fo the less elegant things about sx

here is the project window with inspector with the channel assign open for B4 vsti. Where the circle is we clearly need 1 track, not 3. This is what I'm hoping for in SX3. But, I don't have to scroll all over creation to find the out assignment.
