Cool. Still happy with my MPK261 I bought years ago. Two of my now-favourite synths came free with it.

Now more free stuff. I'll give it a go - what is it, like a self-contained vst host type thing?
Q. Why is a mouse when it spins?
A. The higher the fewer.

Is there a limit of number of parameter banks when using a non-Advance controller? Can the bank switch be mapped to a controller?

Wait till you see 3.1 :)
Wait a minute Mr. Big... well...Tick, you're a part of this whole thing? Nice man. I am seriously in heaven with this! You have no idea. Thank you to all who are involved in the development of VIP3. I hope 3.1 makes this software even more of an asset for me.

Would this work well with the Novation keyboards and controllers? I just can't get to grips with the novation control stuff as it's so damn tedious to use.

I would rather get M-Audio Axiom AIR Mini 32

More keys, and lower price.
both good options. Does anyone know if either of these options require the usb keyboard to be attached while using VIP3? In the past I got an akai keyboard which came with MPC Essentials, but MPC essentials would not function unless the akai device was attached at all times. Just want to make sure there will be no restriction like this if acquiring VIP via buying a keyboard

It works fine without the keyboard attached

I've been playing around with the 7 day trial for the past hour or two. Was thinking about picking up the mini mk2 which would be good value including VIP3, even though I don't actually really need the keyboard.

Looks nice, but I do have to say it didn't discover the presets for a lot of my stuff. It crashed a lot while scanning my VST's too. Its a nice concept, and its good that it can pickup a few of the synths that are not in NKS at this time, and I think it supposedly does some good guessing at category tags, but then on the other hand, it still misses a bunch.

Usability is good, if it covered all my plugins a little better I could see myself using it.

Does it have any means to manually import or map instruments that don't appear to be supported from the factory?

If it's like Zen then the problem would be for plugins that don't support whatever it is that plugins do to communicate preset names to the host (eg Arturia VColl)

Post

yea I'm sure that is probably the case though I would think some of these are quite popular and Akai ought to have them provided... for example Chromophone2, All the Arturia stuff, and others that ought be supported somehow. Same issue as NKS... but komplete Kontrol is free at least. Supposedly there is a way to manually create preset lists and maps for KK also...I don't know if that is possible in Vip3, it wasn't obvious from the GUI. I guess its cool software if you're buying an Akai controller anyway...why not. I'm hard pressed to find a reason to spend $99 on it at this time.

Yeah man, thank you guys for this. I'm finding sounds that I didn't even know I had, and my workflow speed has increased immensely. This is why this is so valuable to me. I'm going to start really digging into this release and really start to benefit from everything VIP 3 has to offer as my personal sound design assistant that I can seamlessly take with me to each and every DAW I use.

I also noticed your sig. That's a pretty strong alliance you guys got there. The future looks good!

I have been test driving VIP 3.0 for a couple of day. I am very impressed with delighted with its capabilities and features. Especially I like the fact that VIP 3.0 is an open system in that it can be used with any midi controllers. I don't know how VIP 3.0 does it but it calls up patches so quick (even with Structure 2 which is a sampler and it takes time for many patches to load up, but in VIP 3.0 a whole bunch of them are instant... amazing) , and also it features what Roland calls patch remain, which makes patch changes very smooth. Komplete Kontrol does not have it. I likeVIP 3.0 so much that I might end up getting two midi controllers to get 2 licenses to use one three machines. I ordered the M-Audio Code 61. Sweetwater is out of stock. I can't wait. I might have to buy from someone else. I am also looking into getting in an MPC key 25 to use with Ableton Live and VIP 3.0

Finally, I can "see" all the thousands of patches and call them up. I use Gig Performer as my VST player. I feel that I have so much control and power with VIP 3.0 in Gig Performer.

Software iLok has been very solid and convenient for me. I've never had any issue with it.

Needs a hardware version without a keyboard - I already have enough of those

Still needs morphing like with Kore - that was Kore's killer feature (still is for me)
