When I load LinPlug RMV, it seems that Mulab detects the notes key names automatically, it's cool because it's as easy as the MuDrum. Is it something special to this plugin or is it a more generic feature ? If so, what are the plugins that work like that ???

Post

It depends whether the VST reports it.

Post

OK so it's something related to the VST specifications. Thanks for the reply...
Is it possible to make our own MUXs report these note names ?

So there must be a bug. I have renamed some note names of a Mux I've made, and save the mux preset again to have the new names embedded.
Now I open this Mux in Mulab and create a sequence : Mulab show me note names (C2, C#2 and so on) instead of the keyboard, but not the names I have replaced (C2=Kick, etc...).

And another bug. This Mux is in my user library folder.
I can see this Mux preset in the Mulab browser at the right, in the appropriate folder : OK.
But if I create a sequence and choose "add instrument track" and then open my Mutools User presets folder, it doesn't show me some folders, and some presets are not shown too : why ?

I doublechecked saving a MUX preset with note key names and reloaded it, works fine as expected.

It only shows presets that can act as an instrument. (the other ones are irrelevant at that point)

OK, so ut's strange because I can't get it work.
I have added some new key names, and saved the preset and reloaded it, but they don't show in the piano roll.

And this is a drum machine, why is it not considered as an instrument ?

I need to load those patches to answer your questions.

Here is the preset.
I have renamed 4 keys :
- C2=Kick
- D2=Snare
- F#2=Closed HiHat
- G#2 = Open HiHat

You're right, there is a bug. Will be fixed in M8. Not yet decided if there will be an earlier fix in a extra M7 update.

I also see a possible issue wrt what's tagged as a instrument / synth, cfr your other report. Taken note of that.

Post

About the "not tagged as synth" issue:

A MUX patch is tagged as a synth if it contains a PolySynth module or if it contains a VST synth or if it contains a MUX that is tagged as a synth (ie contains a PolySynth or VST synth or MUX synth (same recursive conditions)).

Your drum patch uses sample players directly in the MUX, not in a PolySynth and that's why it's not tagged as a synth. For now only solution is to add a PolySynth in your MUX patch, it can be empty and it must not be connected, so its cpu usage will be negligible.

Ok thanks for the explanations...
In M8, will it be possible to have an option to hide the keys that are not renamed in the piano roll to get rid of the gaps ?

Post

That's not planned atm.

I think this feature can be an easy way to handle scales in Mulab : you just create a key name file with only names for the notes of a scale. When you load this "scale" file, and Mulab hide the notes that are not nammed (ie : not in the scale), you can quickly create chords and melodies that fit the scale, and you can "transpose" the notes without the risk of being out of the scale...
Soory for my bad English, hope you got the idea...
