For one thing, tc stretch is Windows only.Doc Brown wrote:How does this compare to tc stretch? I haven't used either but I'm looking to stretch some pads.
How do they compare? Well, they're both freeware, so what's stopping you?

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Pretty different, other than time stretching. TC is VST, and has a good number more features, but has a steeper learning curve, but pretty easy to learn. The great thing about PETS(Ha! I should have thought of that soonerDoc Brown wrote:How does this compare to tc stretch? I haven't used either but I'm looking to stretch some pads.

The other great thing about PETS, Xenakios, is working on it!
Three sound design tools, I'd never be without: PETS, TC, and Hourglass!

Oh man, you're not wrong! Just tried beta 2 with extreme sizes and it's blatantly not working. Need to improve my reduced/critical listening skills!Xenakios wrote:Must have been just placebo...cron wrote:Just noticed that changing FFT Size during playback was disabled in build 3. I had no problem changing FFT size in real time on beta 2 FYI. It seemed to work, in that I got that time/frequency trade off smoothly with no glitching.
Win 10, 64 bit, i3570k, 16MB RAM.It doesn't really work while tweaking during play back. At least not here and I can't see any reason why it would work on a different system either. That's why the slider was disabled during play back in the later versions.

What is PETS stand for, also what is Hourglass?abstractcats wrote:Pretty different, other than time stretching. PETS=Paul's Extreme Time Stretch. (The software/algorithm under discussion.)dangayle wrote:

HourGlass is my now retired but still available granular processing software. https://xenakios.wordpress.com/downloads/

This is brilliant, thank you.Xenakios wrote:As a little side project, I've worked the past couple of days on modernizing the PaulStretch application (originally by Nasca Octavian Paul) for extreme time stretching and other processing of sound files.
First a question: is there a way to reset a control to its default value? For example it's very hard, having moved it, to get pitch-shift back to zero. Often there is a modifiers+click to reset. But I couldn't discover it if there is (MacOS 10.12.6).
Second: what I would find useful is a "morph time" control that would affect how long changes to the other controls take (effectively putting slider shifts onto an envelope of some kind).
Thanks
Matt

1) Not yet, the next build will reset the sliders to the default values with double click or some other way. In the mean time you can click the number box and type in the value you want.sandbags wrote:

2) I will consider adding that at some point.

1) Okay, that works. Thanks.
2) Neat.
Thanks again for your (I suspect considerable) efforts!

I just tested building for iOs/iPad. Seemed to work in the simulator but I doubt I am going to do anything more with that...I don't myself own an iOs device and I am not part of the Apple's paid developer program. Also the GPL license of the code is IIRC problematic with the Apple App Store.nathanj wrote: As soon as I saw this I wondered what are the chances of getting this built for iOS or Android?
I do own a couple of Android devices, maybe I will check out building for Android at some point.

Quick question I did not figure out yet: what is the onset detection parameter?

I have to admit I don't even know myself...Neon Breath wrote:Quick question I did not figure out yet: what is the onset detection parameter?

Ehehe ok thanks!Xenakios wrote:I have to admit I don't even know myself...Neon Breath wrote:Quick question I did not figure out yet: what is the onset detection parameter?I guess it attempts to process transients in the signal somehow differently but I haven't closely looked at that part of the original code.
