I have about 18 T-Racks plug-ins (some are part of the regular TR bundle, some are from Deluxe, some are from Max). It's really an individual collection. If I buy the upgrade for 99 €/$, will I get all my TR plug-ins updated to version 5? Or only the ones I already own that are part of the regular (9 processors) package?
Yes, all of your v4 plugins will be updated.

For those overwhelmed by the previous 18 pages, both content and volume, I have added an ad hoc FAQ on our forum that answers many of these questions http://cgi.ikmultimedia.com/ikforum/vie ... 13&t=14225
I think the confusion is you should have simply had an UPGRADE V4 -> V5 option.

Because right now it looks like I'm buying just the updated V5 plugins in the small package..

"
Classic T-RackS Equalizer
Classic T-RackS Compressor
Classic T-RackS Clipper
Classic T-RackS Multi-band Limiter
EQual
ONE
Dyna-Mu
Master Match
Metering
"

... and the remaining T-Racks plugins I own in CS 4 are just going to stay as CS 4.

systmu wrote:Ok So let me get this straight I currently have t-racks MAX 4. When T-racks 5 comes out I'll get all the new versions of 5 for all the plugins I own in T-racks Max for free? Updated to the New T-racks 5 Plugins with all the improved sound and oversampling?
Yes you understood perfectly :)

The only reasons to pay $$$ are:
- You don't own any T-RackS yet (buy TR5 or MAX)
- You want the new updated shell/standalone & 4 new plugins only (buy the TR5 $99 update)
- You want any missing plugins from MAX & the 4 new plugins & shell/standalone (purchase TR5 MAX 'upgrade')

It's actually pretty simple and people are confusing it in their heads. Everything people own will be updated to V5 gratis, except the standalone/shell, which may be feature restricted (most uncertain part!) unless you bought TR5 or MAX upgrade. You don't have to buy singles again.

Peter, you're a saint for dealing w all this :)

Might I suggest editing the first page of this thread to add that FAQ link? (...speaking as someone who just read the whole thing trying to understand...)

I think it's the use of the word 'upgrade' itself, that has confused some. The only thing people need to pay to upgrade is the shell/standalone, which will have undisclosed restrictions if not upgraded. All v4 single plugins are 'upgraded' to v5 versions for free.

This all works the same as the T-RackS V3->V4 update. The only difference there was the standalone wasn't updated significantly, so IK never asked for $$$ for it, hence people never really noticed we'd moved up a version. I recall getting updated versions of all my singles for free, which came as new versions with different plugin IDs.

Because I don't want my tools to be "cute". I've owned a lot of rackmount hardware and none of it had tacky faux plastic chrome logos.

Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:Your registered plugins should show there after you install and authorize. If not, the "Restore my Gear" will make sure you have access to everything.

THAT answers it for me. Thanks!!

I never use or want to use standalone, I just want scalable GUIs in the VSTs.

What a d***!...boooooooooooo!
S'matter cupcake ? Someone take your Dinosaur away ? I love you, you love me we're just one big family.......

The Logo never really bothered me that much but I'm glad it's gone. Looked out of place.

Anyway I'll be getting the upgrade. If the new "One" plugin sounds as good as it looks it might be worth the price of admission alone. I can imagine it being used on every project. New EQ looks interesting as well.

So now we wait......patience not being my forte
That's right buttercup, and for the record a T Rex doesn't bring to mind Barney, so I don't know why
some people got all 'that time of the month' about the logo, which I thought was badass. I wish they
would make it optional, but oh well, end of on era (I don't think there was anything 'cute' about it).

Moving right along, I'm not sure about the "One," I'd like to know how good the limiter section is in
there, and how transparent it actually is. I'm underwhelmed by EQual and the Album Assembly,
because I think they easily could have been so much more than what they are. To that end, I am
almost over the fence making a decision here. I've thought about swinging for the fences and going
for the Max, but I already own over 70% of the processors in there so don't really feel like paying
twice for stuff I already own to obtain a lot of stuff I don't want, and only a few that I do. So,
standard is looking like the route for me if I pull the trigger.

...and since there are no official details about a free version nor its limitations at this time, what you say you want above has not mentioned as being free (but yes, you'll have that if you purchase T-RackS 5). The Standalone and "shell" are not the only things that are updated in T-RackS 5, I believe that is a bit of a generalization selling short what a big update this actually is. And you get all of it for 99.99 or less... The T-RackS 5 page has much more detail about how much has been changed for T-RackS 5.

For those who have been long-time IK users, which T-RackS version was this dino from?

Post

Two questions, please excuse if these answers should have been clear to me from the proceeding novel ;)
- What functional differences are there between v4 plugins after v5 is released, and the v5 versions of those same plugins?
- Same question, but assuming I only use them as plugins, not in the rack?

Thanks.

Then what the other forum commenters just said is not true about what you have said.

So let me ask directly -- Do we get scalable GUIs free of the V4 T-Racks plugins we currently own when V5 is released?

So your quote from a post on page 16 is inaccurate? -
Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:No need to buy upgrades for anything you already have. Hope that helps.

A perfect opportunity to inform us then us then. My question is similar to dwozzle:
Assuming a user doesn't desire the standalone application, how exactly is the V5 ecosytem different from how V4 works (single plug-ins and the "shell"/CS)?

They are free in the sense that you don't have to pay more to have them, but you'll only get them IF you buy T-Racks 5.

That's why, in fact, they cost 99.99, but you have some bones thrown to you, like a better standalone shell/host that works also as a plug-in, I suppose, since the earlier v4 version worked (Peter?) and 4 more plug-ins. But if you don't buy T-Racks 5, you will no be able to get the new GUIs.

At least, that's what I understood from all the info I got through this thread. So, to sum it up - you have an "upgrade" cost of 99.99, that you can reduce to 69.99, as long as you have at least 30 euros in Jam Points.
