Did I miss something? Where did you hear Stephan gave up?autloc wrote:That's too bad to read about Stefan's difficulties and the delay. I can wait for Zebra - I will wait - but it must be awfully frustrating for Stephan, after all this time, to have to give up. Hope he sorts out his other problems soon. Of course I also hope that Urs makes great & quick progress with the PC port, too

Hiya floyd,
are you on the LUG GroupBuy list for Zebra PC? Hmmm, if you havn't got my yesterday's newsletter, please send me an email privately.
Well.
Unfortunately, I had to send out an email yesterday about a further delay in Zebra Pc release. I havn't posted that here immediately, because I wanted the people who had already ordered Zebra for PC to know from me first before they read it in any forum.
Due to private reasons, including health problems, Stefan had to give up his work on Zebra. It has simply been too much effort and obligation for him, and I fully understand his decision.
This doesn't mean that the project is dead, it just means another delay.
Here's Plan B:
I've got my hands on a new technology from another company. It will enable me to release plugins in any native Mac and Pc formats without much hassle, and without needing to consult external developers.
To make use of that stuff, I'm currently rewriting and reorganizing my code, so it adapts to the special concepts.
In that turn, I have also started improving my modular engine, in order to simplify my development process but also to add some features which have been requested frequently.
So, when Zebra comes out for PC, it will most likely be Version 2.0, including some further add ons, like arpeggiator, alternative tunings and stuff.
Nothing will change for GroupBuy subscribers, it will remain the same price tag.
It's a sad thing, but I'm doing my best to push it forwards.
I hope you understand.
Cheers,
Urs

oops, sorry - i thought (before thunderbird crashed) that the details of the thing weren't meant to go public (such as health issues or whatever), not that the delay was a big secret. sorry about that. i have nothing but respect for stefan and certainly don't blame him for whatever problems he's run into.

Hehehe, I didn't want to keep any stuff secret, I just wanted to prevent any kind of flame thread against Stefan.

Yes - soon I hope. Spending his summer break indoors coding didn't sound like my idea of fun.sickle666 wrote:

There can only be good feelings and best wishes directed towards Stefan. He's someone who has only ever contributed to KvR in a positive way, in spite of all kinds of difficulties (as well as being very generous.)
The same goes for you, too, Urs. Take your time and enjoy yourself. You're brilliant, creative and a supertopguy. Keep up the good work on your little striped horse and we'll all still be here when you're done.
