Just noticed that's a 4k imac screen, right? Does it make any difference if you drop the res down on the mac?
I don't have a 4k monitor to try this myself, sorry

Yep, it's a 4K monitor.
As you guessed, reducing the resolution has an almost linear impact on how low I can set the latency. With 'open in low resolution' enabled, if I scale the resolution down to the lowest setting. I can hit 64 samples without issues. After unchecking the open in low resolution box, and restarting Waveform, if I reduce the resolution to 2048x1152, I can lower the samples to 256. If I reduce the resolution to 1600x900, I can lower it to 128. Running at regular 4K resolution, I can't go below 756. And again, this is unique to Waveform in song view mode: Studio One, Reaper, and MixBus (which I recently picked up to test with), all work perfectly at 64 samples using normal resolution.

Thanks for the info. We don't actually have a 4k monitor at the moment but it seems like we need to get one to take a look at what might be causing the bottlenecks here.
