Create a midi clip insert a few notes and play with them a bit... meaning copy them, delete one, select different one by left clicking on it...
After a few seconds here on my side, keyboard strikes have no effect anymore!!!
After clicking on the clip in the timeline and clicking again in the midi editor to select it again, key strikes acting as normal...
Tested with beta 8.23

Just confirming... when you mention keyboard strikes, do you mean the computer keyboard, or a MIDI keyboard?

I mean computer keyboard strikes like pressing "Del" for deleting...
"Shift+arrow" keys to move notes etc...
If the midi editor is docked here, it looses keyboard focus very easily and I have to click on the clip in the timeline again to get focus back again...
If the midi editor is detached (as a seperate window) it works fine...

Again, do you mean the little virtual MIDI keyboard at the bottom of the screen loses focus, or something else?

No I mean typing with my real fingers on my real computer keyboard (the one you can touch in real life)...
What looses focus for typing keyboard shortcuts and triggering commands is the midi editor...
Open a midi clip in the new midi editor, have it docked, and use keyboard commands...
I narrowed it a bit down:
It happens always when you shift select different notes...
i.e.: with the pencil tool selected, hold shift and lasso select a few notes... Move them around with shift+arrow keys...
Select other notes with shift + lasso select ...boom no key stroke has an effect anymore... I have to leftclick on the clip and then I can use the key commands further...
It seems to be related to shift+ lasso select...

Narrowed it further down: The problem is adding notes with shift to a existing selection...
I.e.: Shift select notes and shift select other notes to add them to the selection makes further keyboard commands unnoticed... (the second shift + select triggers the bomb)
But: Shift select notes (treat them) hitting escape to deselect all and shift select other or the same notes works flawlessly... as often as you like

Is this still an issue with 8.2.5? I'm trying to reproduce but selection seems to work as many times as I can try when holding shift...

Do you think you could make a short video of it so I can make sure I'm following the same steps to reproduce?Trancit wrote:Yes, happens here everytime...dRowAudio wrote:Is this still an issue with 8.2.5? Thanks for the video, it seems this only happens with certain side panels showing, notably not the "Search" panel which I usually have open. I've been able to reproduce this now and am working on a fix.
