I've got a boatload of sf2 fonts that I collected for use with my SBlive and my previous sequencer.
Well, I don't want to bother loading sfs into the SBLive if I don't have to (slows down bootup on Win98SE with KX drivers), so I want to use sfz or sfz+
When I try to load any size sf2 into sfz, I get an error that says there is not enough memory.
Is there a setting I don't know about that sets aside some memory for sfz's banks?
I can't seem to find it in any docs for T or in these or the rgc threads.

I'm no expert but I do use sfz, and since you've had no other replies, I'll have a go...
I'm not aware of any settings to allocate memory to sfz -- I believe it's basically whatever memory is free on your machine. Something that might catch you out is that by default sfz loads samples into memory as 32-bit, which typically means they take up twice as much memory as you're expecting. You can switch it to 16-bit mode to bring the memory utilization back down, or even to play samples direct from disk rather than loading them into memory. Have a look for the 'How much memory does sfz take?' question in the sfz FAQ for more info.
There's also a question "I have plenty of memory in my PC, and sfz says 'there's not enough memory'" in the sfz FAQ that may help.

You can also set it to harddrive streaming mode instead of loading into ram.
I have occasionally still gotten that message about not having enough memory to load the soundfont even though I have it set to stream from the harddrive. Odd.
The solution is to delete the sfz and then reload it. It will then allow you to load the soundfont.
It looks like an sfz bug or an incompatability with Tracktion that surfaces on occassion.
I use sfz more than any other sound source. On the whole it works quite well.

The SF16 / 32 modes loads the entire soundfont into memory.
The PR16 / 32 modes loads only the selected program into memory.
DFD (?) is directly from disk streaming.
I usually use the PR modes and I never have memory problems.

Sorry for reviving this years old topic but i've been facing the same problem and couldn't find any other solutions on the web.
RGCaudio's website mentions that the "Not Enough Memory" problem is derived from memory fragmentation but it doesn't seem to be so.
I have Nuendo in two very different computers on my studio.
One, a Pentium 3 1GHz with 512MB RAM where i can load SFZ+ with whatever SoundFont i want, 32 bit mode, and play with any controller, real-time or not.
The other system, a P4 dual-core 3.2GHz with 4GB RAM where i can only use DFD mode (direct from disk reading of SoundFonts) otherwise i get a "Not Enough Memory" message. It happens with all SoundFonts, even the ones that are only a few KB in size.
The P4 system (the "big" one) is a clean install, only audio software, tidy, defragmented, no non-sense install, while the P3 computer is my web computer where i have all the "trash". And it works!
Both computers are running on Windows XP Pro SP2 full updates.
What gives? Suggestions? Solutions?

its sfz i think. id talk to rene... its not just tracktion people have had probs with it i now have a a64 3000+ with 1.5gb ram and i still get the msgs from time to time, not much lately but still...
