Does anyone else agree it would be great to be able to control any 'automation curve' on a vst instrument with external midi controllers (ie Maudio Ozone, UC16 etc)

I want to twiddle with a knob on an instrument, record a bit of automation, and then say - 'OK, now I will use my external midi controller to twiddle that knob on the VST instrument'.

Can't do that at the moment....unless you know specifically the CC assignment of knobs on an instrument - a lot of instruments don't have that capability (or dont have CC assignment for their knobs). :x

Mod's CC-Rider any use to you?

Ah yes, thanks - with 'record mode' off, if it is placed AFTER the instrument, when you twiddle the instrument knobs it tells you the CC value pumped out by the instrument - but ONLY if the Knobs have a CC value assigned to them by the programmer of the instrument.

If we could input 'automation curves' themselves using external controls....that would rule....

I drag the "A" onto some plugin in T, and only get wet/dry as automatable parameters. I put the same plug into energy xt and can see all the parameters and can map any of them to any cc#.

T needs cc mapping , anything that does the job better.
If T2 doesn't take care of this, I won't be getting it, but I'm sure it's on the list.

I'd like to be able to curve (as in Sonar) and spline (as in Audition) all automation curves. In fact, that would make me quite happy. I might even smile.

Also, can I have a larger house please, with a proper studio built on?

Well, energy XT does do the job pretty nicely once you figure it out....Still, would rather Tracktion did the job.

If Energy XT has figured out a way of listing every slider and knob on a VSTi, then technically it is possible....if that could be in T2, that would be great!!! :D

Midi editing in T is shit. theres nothing more to say about it then that! :D

AFAIK very few hosts map CC's to VST parameters... Cubase doesn't, but lovely Computer Muzys does :) it's funny how such thing can be overlooked, I found CMuzys parameter mapping very useful.

I want better automation curve editing in general, like assigning points on the curve to clips and dragging blocks of points at once.

energyXT does too. So you could plug eXT in to Tracktion as a VSTi then put your "real" VST Instruments inside eXT.

You can then use the Envelope tracks inside eXT to send CC data to the VSTi and map the CC data onto any _named_ parameter of the VSTi.
