A simple, perhaps crude, way in Ableton Live is to just record the notes played in sequence (from C1, can make a MIDI file for reuse), then drop that single file in Simpler in Slice mode (can use Instrument Rack chains set w/velocity zones for velocity layers).
It will "auto-slice" at the transients, then you can just play.
Even faster with soft synths, since you can just freeze a Clip with the MIDI sequence of all notes, and use the resulting WAV created in the project folder.

Does it require Redux or Renoise alone can do that?padillac wrote:Virtual instruments only... but for that, it’s pretty brilliantdangayle wrote:I just remembered that Renoise can easily handle this task, and can output SFZ files natively. Combined with Redux, it’s a pretty dang good solution.

Renoise does it. First you use the plugin grabber and then you export the keyzones which produces a .sfz file and a folder with the samples.SampleScience wrote:Does it require Redux or Renoise alone can do that?padillac wrote:Virtual instruments only... but for that, it’s pretty brilliantdangayle wrote:I just remembered that Renoise can easily handle this task, and can output SFZ files natively. (if only there were some way to load those .sfz patches into Ableton's sampler!!)

Great! Thank you, I'm going to try it. I didn't I could do that with Renoise.padillac wrote:Renoise does it. That’s probably the most common phrase with regards to Renoise. It’s seriously one of the best pieces of software for production you can buy, IF you can wrap your head around the tracker paradigm. It’s main flaw is working with vocals or long samples, since there’s no waveform arrangement view.SampleScience wrote:Great! Thank you, I'm going to try it. It is possible to convert from SFZ to SF2 with this software:
http://polyphone-soundfonts.com/en/
Then you can drop the SF2 in Ableton Live's Sampler or other samplers that accept SF2.
Just tested, seems to work fine.
