Agreed: although I rather like the sound of the Polysix emulation, the MS-20 sounds far from real analog to me. I've heard that the emulations of the digital synths (Wavestation and M1) are pretty accurate, so if that's your cup of tea (cheesy 90's sounds) then go for it, but for analog emulation you can do much better today.chk071 wrote:Depends, i guess. If you need the KORG sound, there's hardly an alternative in software. If you compare them to sound demos of the real deal though... hm.... the MS-20 is far from it, IMO. Neither sounds as rich and fat as the hardware, nor does it have the creaminess of the filter. Rather sounds thin and harsh. To each his own.

I love the analog emulations more than Wavestation and M1, especially the Mono/Poly although they are far from the real ones! I treat them like a VA synths (which they are of course!). I really love the sound of Mono/Poly (which the only one I have now), but I might buy the others again! They are great synths IMO. They just need to update the GUI (damn it!!!!
)
I don't know, but I begin to not care about how authentic are the emulations and synths in general. If it sounds good for me, then this is what matters

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

By far the best emulations of the real instruments on the market.Please Korg just update the GUI +++ size matters in this case.

(and if possible, enrich the collection with something like a Korg Trident, a Korg PS series and a Korg Oasys). Expanding the ROM of the M1 with all the sounds that are on the 0x/W series would be neat also (as it would adding the waveshaping feature).

Or you could just buy a modern workstation plugin instead of hoping that they'll update abandonware.

And exactly what would be that "modern workstation plugin", wiseguy?

Perhaps he misunderstood Korg Trident as Trinity or Triton? However, I'm also for a bigger GUI for this so called abandonware.fmr wrote:Romantique Tp wrote:Or you could just buy a modern workstation plugin instead of hoping that they'll update abandonware.

The ms-20
"THE SOUND"
"I'd say that over 92% of the original sound is there. And there are many sounds you can achieve in the software version that the hardware could never do. "

Well, that would explain his answer, but then, he should know better before postingEtienne1973 wrote:Perhaps he misunderstood Korg Trident as Trinity or Triton?fmr wrote:Romantique Tp wrote:Or you could just buy a modern workstation plugin instead of hoping that they'll update abandonware.

Seeing as Korg so recently updated the Legacy Collection for the newest Mac OS, i don't know how you justify calling it "abandonware".Romantique Tp wrote:Or you could just buy a modern workstation plugin instead of hoping that they'll update abandonware.

"modern workstation plugin"
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
