Aren't these 3 plugins used for basically the same purpose? In what situations is it best to use one of these versus another? Couldn't you get nearly identical results using any of these?
I think that the video on limiters and maximizers could stand an update. On Youtube, the sound examples all sound annoying to me after a few minutes (same song looped over and over, and the track lends to ear fatigue VERY quickly). The examples showing the differences between maximizers started to sound the same on that video, and my ears are still bleeding a bit.
A video comparing both the similarities and differences between these plugs would be great, especially if applied to a few different music pieces. Also, showing how specific settings are manipulated on each to get a certain result should be shown. Any chance that this will happen?

MDynamics can do limiting, but it is not really designed with that in mind, it is more a general dynamics processor. So it is unlike the others.
For limiting I would use one of the dedicated limiters.

MLimiterX is a standard broadband limiter will all the trimmings. This is probably the go to limiter to use most of the time. It can be very transparent.

MLimiterMB is the multiband version of MLimiterX, It can be louder than broadband limiting. It can have different setting for the way it detects and processes bass/treble etc. However it will not be very transparent as it causes frequency flattening (meaning that it can reduce dynamics more in one band than another, so it could for example make bass quieter and treble louder, changing the balance of frequencies)

MUltramaximizer is basically the same as MLimiterMB but will special setting (secret).

So the best one is MLimiterMB as if you put it into single band mode you have a broadband limiter, or it can be a multiband too. Also it comes with all the extras like modulators and multiparameters. The active presets have ultramaximizers too, they sound great!

Mhh, I find this a very good question.
I watched the videos as well and found the same. (For me especially I am sure that part of the problem is my few knowlege and experience.)
I found that for me a better way to start is the question "what do I want to be done to my music?" instead of comparing the features of hundrets of plugins*.
For example I wanted the sound to be louder but not over -0.1 dB > REAPER's limiter was step 1. This was not perfect to increase loudness > I found MUltraMaximizer, which costs 25 € on discount, allmost a gift. Just an example, but at least it kept me from expensive purchases.
But of course my was might also lead to some wrongly-bought-plugins. :scared:
*: Melda and all the others exist on selling new plugins. They have to create new ones all the time. So they all are not interested in creating al totally self-explaining clear portfolio ...

Thanks for the responses. On the first comment- nice summary! For a "perpetual newbie" like me, that cleared things up (as much as can be done in a succinct way).

On the second comment- good point about asking WHAT one wants to do. Naturally, with so many choices (not just by Melda, but in the universe of plugins)- that question is usually answered by 100 more questions/possibilities.
I think that I'll start with MDynamics on individual electric guitar tracks (or maybe MPhatic, or maybe MSpectral Dynamics), and maybe MDynamicsMB on buses, and MLimiterMB on the master. Or maybe Ultramaximizer, ... or maybe MTurbocomp....or maybe.....

...doh!
