I have the original that I got for $49 and I think the CE is probably comparable. They added stuff to the current version. The CE is a cut down version.Photo_G wrote:Thanks! How does CE 2 compare to the original full Philharmonik? Would it be an upgrade?dzilizzi wrote:It is the CE version, not the full version.Photo_G wrote:Where do you guys see Philharmonik for $50.00?

I have to stop myself from getting this. I have way too many of this type of thing and don't use them enough to warrant getting another. It does look really great though.Fleer wrote:Just got it in. Just found this VI Control thread, with the great Jordan R recommending the library: https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... o-i.57972/dzilizzi wrote:I have to stop myself from getting this. I like the comments in the thread that basically read "Yeah, Jordan recommends and likes a lot of things ... the difference is he's more talented than most."Fleer wrote:Just found this VI Control thread, with the great Jordan R recommending the library: https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... o-i.57972/dzilizzi wrote:I have to stop myself from getting this. I'd like to demo the Kirk Hunter product but it doesn't look like that's available. Lame!
On first glance, the Miroslav CE seems to have a more extensive amount of instruments recorded. Though in practice I don't know how much of a difference that will make in terms of the overall sound. The addition of the choir in the Kirk Hunter samples is a nice feature as well.

I have Miroslav 2 (full) and it’s nice as an encompassing orchestral library for elaborate composing while Kirk Hunter Virtuoso Ensembles is a fine sketching tool, quite like Albion One.

So I'm not sure if this is a bad omen for IK on my computer ...
I loaded up the free version of Sampletank and started up the Standalone version. Huge amount of input lag when trying to play the included grand piano. I'm on Win 10 x64 and have an i7-4770k. My Focusrite interface is set to 64 samples. First time I've this kind of problem with ANY virtual instrument.

Apparently it had defauled to my DirectSound driver.sprnva wrote:I had a similar experience with the Grand Piano patch when I first got ST3. I haven't tried it since but I think the issue was that the Ambience reverb effect was chewing up a lot of CPU. Turning that off in the effects section made the patch more responsive.

I picked up the Kirk library after all. That discount was too much to pass up. Should be a nice addition/replacement for the included Kontakt libraries, as my first “big boy” third party orchestral samples. If I feel the need I may circle back around to Miroslav and pick that up another day. IK stuff seems to go on sale pretty frequently.

However, my opinion may not have as much weight as those who use orchestral samples as a primary focus. I’ll be using them as flavor and textures for my music. So what I’m saying is I probably don’t have as discerning of taste as others might who have much more $$$ invested into multiple orchestral libraries looking for “that sound.”
