Asked myself the same Q and came to this explanation: You can tell from the structure of pricing that they want you to go for Suite.

Anyway, still think it's pricey (though thecontrolcentre pointed that's it's the usual step). But I foresee that I can't refrain from more Push integration and shine.

multiple audio clips edited at once audio?

multiple fades at once?

The pricing structure sounds like "Live Komplete" to me... ;-)

I was actually very curious what Live 10 would bring and I think I made the right choice for what I do.
If I imagine that the DAW I use now wasn't even released when Live 9 came out (and annoyed the hell out of me so that I switched instantly) and now already is at version 2.2.2 and beats Live in all regards that matter to me personally, I am very satisfied with my decision.

When I see the Live 10 Videos, half of what's new actually looks like Live now trying to catch up with Bitwig.
Now isn't that funny... :-)

Will Live 10 still crash when a plugin crashes? Will it be able to run modulation at audio rate? Can I put any device in any order I want into a device chain, no matter the type? Hybrid tracks with audio and midi? Multiple documents open? Does Live 10 see new midi devices the instant they get connected on Windows? Can it's clips hold audio from different sources with comfortable inline editing? Full screen editing? Popup-browser, Controller API, MPE, Touch interface, 32 and 64 VSTs, extreme routing... ?

Hm. I think I made a VEEEEEERY good choice actually. ;-)

Cheers,

Tom

Considering usual incorporation of Andy's work into Live - my guess it is less cpu intensive/less detailed+more optimized version of the scream

What a fantastic update! I absolutely love the direction Ableton is going with Live. Happy to pay 200€ for this.

Control Surfaces are now available when Live runs as a ReWire slave. This applies to both Push 1 and 2 as well.

anyone know of or have any mirrors for the download? I just let it run for 5 hours because their host is so slow, and even though it finished 'successfully' it had a crc error on unpack so it wont install

with firefox + downthemall + 20 connections was 1 Narcos episode...(and sry for everybody because of it :clown: otherwise it would took 14 hours...)

Very true! Still, I caved in and pre-ordered 10 Suite, simply because Ableton ticked most items off of my wishlist, except for the linked / alias clips, that Bitwig doesn't have either...

I'll be using both in turns probably, and I'm extremely happy that Bitwig exists. Firstly, because it's a wonderful and very unique DAW in its own right, secondly because it keeps Ableton in check and pushes them to work on their software. It's really telling that this time the Arrangement view got MUCH more feature updates than Session (which didn't really get anything, AFAICT?). Great times! :)

BTW, how is everyone's beta d/l going? The 1st time I had something like 20kb/s, which traslated to 1-2 days but it died around 270MB. I started a new one now and it goes much faster, with ETA of 3-6h!

If I didn't have such a massive investment and interest in max4live devices I would be following you Tom.

I am completely underwhelmed by the update.

This time I couldn't resist... with the 20% discount and free upgrade to v10.

At the moment, I don't think I'll abandon Logic totally. I guess, when I got Push, I'll do creative jamming and live arranging in Ableton, then mixing in Logic. I heard from a couple Ableton users doing the same.

Just last week, I had a customer who's a experienced Ableton and let's say "rookie" Logic user, in the studio. He showed me how that creative flow and live arranging with Push works. I was quite impressed. On the other hand, when he watched me doing the mixdown in Logic, he was quite impressed, how workflow seemed more intuitive to him.

I'll see how my workflow will be. Now I need to invite the customer to my studio, to so I can play around with the Push.

Live seems to be at a point where not much groundbreaking innovation is happening anymore. At that point you usually "marry" and get kids, a porsche and a paunch, otherwise you improve the garden layout a bit over the years = new skins, a synth and some soundpacks, plus many small improvements that are improving daily live but lack the fresh sparkle of youth.
Ableton isn't young and hungry anymore (and shows some bald spots too) but instead mainly concentrates on locking people into their ecosystem with push, tons of content and Live-only stuff, so that leaving ("divorce") is becoming more and more painful...

Not an environment I thrive in.
I like it a bit more alive and kicking :-)
