Considering 4 years of development this update is more than underwhelming to me.
And standard users are forced to upgrade to suite for a full feature list and required to buy stuff they might not need. Thanks for upselling, Ableton. I'll stick to V9 standard.

This could be awesome! I have other DAWs that are much better for multi-track recording, editing, and mixing but Live and Push 2 is a creative beast. If I can incorporate them all, that’s the dream world (and a way better “Maschine”).superscan wrote:Control Surfaces are now available when Live runs as a ReWire slave. This applies to both Push 1 and 2 as well.

What license? The license Ableton has to pay for including Max? You do know that Ableton acquired Cycling74, right?tooneba wrote:M4L is cancer. It increases the price of "full" basic feature package because of the license. Most people don't even touch the surface of its programming side. Just bundle M4L player.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

Im still trying to get live to launch as a rewire slave, but I think they may have added support for vst and m4l as well, where before you couldnt use either in slave mode5Lives wrote:This could be awesome! Does someone who uses the Live 10 beta know if there are still issues with the plugin delay compensation? Concretely i ask if there are still off sync time based modulations when placed after latency introducing plugins?
And what about the way Live compensates MIDI and audio recordings? Still the same for monitor in/auto/off as in Live 9?
I just own Live 9 Lite so it seems that i am not able to use the Live 10 beta.
Would be great to get some more informations about that because the new features and improvements look amazing and i consider buying Live, but it would be a shame if this bizarre PDC still exists.

Everyone has a different idea of what freedom is for sure. I seem to recall you being a guy who codes some Bitwig control surface scripts. Not many of us want to have to do that. I actually consider it weird that a good portion of my experience using Bitwig would be due to yours and others apparently unpaid hard work.ThomasHelzle wrote: Live seems to be at a point where not much groundbreaking innovation is happening anymore. At that point you usually "marry" and get kids, a porsche and a paunch, otherwise you improve the garden layout a bit over the years = new skins, a synth and some soundpacks, plus many small improvements that are improving daily live but lack the fresh sparkle of youth.
Ableton isn't young and hungry anymore (and shows some bald spots too) but instead mainly concentrates on locking people into their ecosystem with push, tons of content and Live-only stuff, so that leaving ("divorce") is becoming more and more painful...
Not an environment I thrive in.
I like it a bit more alive and kicking
Cheers,
Tom
Rewire allows any of us to use another DAW in conjunction with our main DAW. Bitwig decide to eschew it completely, to me that's not freedom, Live 10 frees up control surfaces in rewire mode, ( can't tell how well that works until I get on the beta? ) but Push 2 being able to control the drum rack in Live while being rewired into DP, Logic etc. is to me a huge amount of freedom VS Bitwig deciding that SysEx and ReWire etc. are passé.
I get where you're coming from, just saying experience is different for different people in terms to what they consider to be locking you into using their DAW exclusively. To me Bitwig locks you in a lot more than all the others considering what is possible with rewire VS MTC, beat clock etc. I truly thought Bitwig was going to break a lot of ground in terms of connectivity, but I don't think it does squat that way, the big thing in Bitwig I like is the MPE support, but less choices for beat warping isn't one of them, and it's equally annoying lack of editable key commands etc.

Agreed, I'm really looking forward to this for the exact same reason.5Lives wrote:This could be awesome! Looks like I'll be upgrading to live 9 suite from standard and get 10 for free.
I'm really happy to see the workflow improvements like automation snapping and multi-edit in midi. (Should have been in Live 7 IMO)
However I'm not that excited about a new WT synthesizer or delay seeing how I've got my own stuff now. Maybe if I was just starting out, this would be a nice package but.. meh
Stoked that Maxforlive is built right into the live 10 engine.

You can edit the key commands in Bitwig...machinesworking wrote:I truly thought Bitwig was going to break a lot of ground in terms of connectivity, but I don't think it does squat that way, the big thing in Bitwig I like is the MPE support, but less choices for beat warping isn't one of them, and it's equally annoying lack of editable key commands etc.

Yeah I realized that now but it cost money to acquire anyway.deastman wrote:What license? The license Ableton has to pay for including Max? It's not the editing of the key I meant but the lack of actual key commands. DP9 and Logic are the other DAWs I'm familiar with and you have access to hundreds of choices for key commands in those two VS a couple dozen in either Live or Bitwig...pdxindy wrote:You can edit the key commands in Bitwig...machinesworking wrote:I truly thought Bitwig was going to break a lot of ground in terms of connectivity, but I don't think it does squat that way, the big thing in Bitwig I like is the MPE support, but less choices for beat warping isn't one of them, and it's equally annoying lack of editable key commands etc.

Isn't THIS the Christmas sale...kinda?tooneba wrote:I'm gonna wait Christmas sale 50% off.
I got the impression this 20% off thing goes all the way until February...
