Me too - made 2 attempts yesterday. Going faster now (and done 30 seconds laterantic604 wrote:I got accepted after 2h of getting the e-mail. This might be different now, because it seems Ableton's servers can't cope with the demand - I had to reset my d/l few times already, because it goes at 20-40kb/s, which transaltes to 1-2 days for a 1.4Gb file... I hope I'll be able to d/l it over the weekendjackson881 wrote:Has everyone who signed up been able to get into the Live 10 public beta or have you been placed on the waiting list?

Not yet! Sorry, my post was a bit misleading. I meant I was hooked just from reading and watching vids on the net about the new features. (I watched tom cosm's livecast among other stuff).
I've just applied before and I will definitely report back about my impressions.

Seriously, I like the nice little workflow improvements they have made. I'm curious to see how fast max4live is when loading new devices also and the whole integration.

Makes perfect sense - otherwise the beta forum just gets cluttered up with newbie's support requests - they need experienced Live usersmunk808 wrote:that makes no sense really, it's a beta program the more users to test it and report bugs the better.xbitz wrote:You will need a Live 9 Standard or Live 9 Suite license in order to activate your Live 10 Beta serial. well, my 5 bucks to get Live 9 Lite were well saved now

@kmonkey About the dub machines, have you tried the plugin versions that they made? I bough them when they came out. They are awesome. Not the same like the max4live version.

and they do right, i own a suite license for a short while, but never would consider myself a decent live user. i still dont got a live 10 beta invite in my centercode.aMUSEd wrote:Makes perfect sense - otherwise the beta forum just gets cluttered up with newbie's support requests - they need experienced Live usersmunk808 wrote:that makes no sense really, it's a beta program the more users to test it and report bugs the better.xbitz wrote:You will need a Live 9 Standard or Live 9 Suite license in order to activate your Live 10 Beta serial. i think its the right way to do extended semi-public beta test phases. i even think that statistically the quality of input from testers will not incline linear to the amount of beta-testers^^.

Oh well it appears they have finally managed to produce a version with no bugs - it's just won't start!
Just sits there in my dock doing nothing.
Live 9 would do this occasionally too - it seems Live 10 has perfected this behaviour.

Yes i tried VST version. They are great but M4L is for my ear better in the sense it can provide me different distortion and compression character i like more then VST. Both are great but i prefer m4l version.paradiddle wrote:@kmonkey About the dub machines, have you tried the plugin versions that they made? I bough them when they came out. They are awesome. Does anyone i mean can anyone test m4l behavior in Live 10 and tell us does M4l packs like Dub Machines really perform better?
Cheers

On my same machine (2014 macbook air i7 1.7 GHz):
idle: 1-2%
Live 10:
3 diffuse: 19-20%
3 Magnetic: 35-37%
Live 9:
3 diffuse: 22-23%
3 magnetic: 42-43%
So improved, not vastly, but better. All they did was reduce the overhead that M4L imposes, so they can't reduce the work the plugin actually does.
For reference, the plugin versions:
Live 10:
3 diffuse: 20-21%
3 modnetic: 29-30%
modnetic is more interesting, as it's a bit different from magnetic. Modnetic also has an optional modulation section that is off by default; if I turn that on for all 3 instances, it gets to the 39-40% range. But I don't think that option even exists in Magnetic.

Thanks for posting. Your result vary a lot to my system but i guess it's due different CPUs. (i am on win10 i7 haswell - 4ghz). On my system when i was testing back then:chroma wrote:On my same machine (2014 macbook air i7 1.7 GHz):

Live 9 Modnetic - 2% - greatly improved CPU when compared to M4l version which is why i am asking these questions.
Can you just tell me how long does it take for you to load Magnetic on Live 10 (not Live 9) when you run Live 10 for the first time after booting to your operating system. Please and thank you. Asking because i was VERY annoyed by M4L plugin loading times. Example Magnetic is loading for around 8-10 seconds for the first time after booting and running Live while Modnetic (vst version) was loading in 1 second.

Echo and Wavetable are really great sounding new plugins.
Many small additions in editing - some more useful than others, and some in the Live 9 wishlist not fixed, yet (if ever?).
One of the main reason to stay with the Live is the GUI - absolutely great and with all the improvements even better. Love the blue theme.
MIDI editing could be much better, not to mention the unexistence of the MIDI to notes.
All in all - I would give the grade 8 for the Ableton, according to what I´ve seen. No doubt update.
